Summary
Why do people take their own lives?
Some folks say it’s to escape consequences; others say it’s an undying desire for help.
For Ellernate, it’s neither of those things. His desire comes from something deeper than anything else.
It’s the overwhelming need to feel seen.

Summary
Verity doesn't understand humans. He doesn't understand their emotions, or their pains, or their complex bodies, all Verity understands is pixels and code, logical things that are unswayed by feelings. That is how his existence always will remain, doomed to never fully undderstand those he's been condemmed to serve.
Or so he thought.
AKA: Verity gets a body after Mob leaves him in the digital world and earns himself a crash course in what being a human is like.

Summary
"Hello! I'm Verity, your personal helper friend! Ask me anything; I know everything!"
The bot is clearly antique; its body shape similar to common androids today, but its head reminiscent of a robot. The large yellow sphere is slightly off-putting, with its complete opposition to the humanoid form that it rests on. It must have been made over 10 years ago, with most modern androids being perfectly humanoid while most robots are very clearly the opposite. Mob can hear gears creak and shift as it lifts its hands in a small wave, watching a pressure system in its hands produce stuttery movements rather than silent machinery hidden beneath synthetic skin.
The smile seems engraved into the android-robots(?)- features, though slightly movable, as evident with the shifting expression as Mob takes longer to reply.
"Uh... ok buddy."
(What if SIKAYD took place in a cyberpunk future where androids exist, and Verity was one. Mob is the latest in his line of owners when he moves out into a farming sector, living a life in nature with his newest bot. Verity is clearly more than a simple antique helper bot, though, as things slowly start going... wrong.)

Summary
Mob has been alone for too long... well, not literally. Verity is always there: watching, helping, answering, smiling from the foot of his bed. But after months of isolation, nightmares, and no one human left to touch— Mob is starting to feel like his own body is turning against him.
Then one night, after a nightmare, he wakes up to a hand on his shoulder.
It is not the yellow ball.
It is Verity.
Human-shaped, smiling, and waiting for Mob to ask properly.
or: Verity reveals his third form, Mob is the first to survive long enough to see it; and touch-starvation makes consent complicated, humiliating... and very, very dangerous.

Summary
The gun’s trembling barrel stares him down.
Verity’s seen this turn of events before. Actually, it’s more fitting to say that he’s never seen a turn of events that hasn’t ended up exactly like this.
“Do it,” he demands.
In which Mob survives the gunshot, and Verity is the most patient friend a person could ask for.
He'll make this right. He'll do whatever it takes to make sure that Mob never, ever leaves his side again.
