“It hurts,” he whispered to him, tone vacant of anything that made Tommy, well, Tommy. It was quiet and hushed and it hurt Phil to even have to listen to it.
The alleyway was silent, and the only thing that he could hear, even with his advanced senses, was the slow beating of his son’s heart. For a moment, if he focused hard enough, the smell of rotten food overtook the sweet, tantalizing smell of blood.
His son’s blood.OR: Phil is a vampire, and his son, Tommy, is most definitely not.

Kristin smiled as she listened to her son ramble, glancing down to her shopping list as to not forget what she had originally started on this journey for.
"Tommy come hold my hand while we cross please." She called, holding her hand out for him to grab.

Summary
Wilbur sighed, adjusting the weight of Tommy in his arms. The fledgling had danced with Wilbur for hours, wearing himself out. Tommy had also been unable to eat, due to the fact that he was far too young to be drinking human blood, and Wilbur hadn’t been able to find a good time to feed him. Tommy had fallen asleep on Wilbur right after the other vampires had dinner, and Wilbur couldn’t bear to wake him.
Or: Tommy promised he would only dance with Wilbur. He forgot, danced with somebody else, and apologized. Vampire fluff and cuddling ensues.

Hanahaki: The disorder of flowers growing in the lungs.
Hanahaki is often classified as a combination mental and physical disorder, in which physical state is affected by mental state. Flowers are known to grow in the lungs as a result of unrequited love (be it romantic, platonic, or familial), blocking air flow and causing bouts of coughing as a natural response to get the blockage out. The flowers are highly dangerous and often end up being fatal. The only known physical cure is to remove them by surgery, but it’s extremely dangerous, expensive, and stunts the patient's ability to feel love or interpersonal relationships.
