Summary
It takes everything in Easthies not to laugh, for only Qifrey could do something so ridiculous. He knows just as well as anyone that he doesn’t drink alcohol, and yet, he comes all this way to give him some regardless. None of this feels real, and if it weren’t for the fact that the bottle is currently pressed into his hand, cool against the warmth of his skin, he would have assumed it to be a dream.
“You came all this way to give me a bottle of wine?”
“Not exactly,” Qifrey continues, and it’s obvious that he finds Easthies’ unease to be extremely entertaining. “I also thought we could share it.”

Summary
It matters not whether he actually cares about Qifrey’s career choices. If it were simply that, then he wouldn’t bother having this conversation whatsoever. The problem lies in the desire to leave; the desire to abandon the society that had given him a home in the first place. Nothing is stopping Qifrey from teaching within the Assembly, but as is to be expected, he is ungrateful.
Regardless of whatever affection he can claim to possess, that is something Easthies cannot forgive.

To say that he runs to his car would be incorrect, as he is a Lan, and running is both undignified and unnecessary unless in immediate danger. Nor does he slam his key into the ignition, or aggressively swerve around the cars on the freeway, or have a mild panic attack at the fact he is picking A-Yuan up late from school for the first time ever.
He comes close, though.
By the time he arrives, it’s 4:35PM, and he has imagined about fifty different worse-case scenarios. The door is partly open when he gets to it, a messy label of 104B—Art Room scrawled with chalk on a placard next to the faded wood. As he opens it fully, he expects to see a wailing, terrified child, or perhaps a scene of utter misery and betrayal.
What he finds is his son, hands covered in paint, being sung to by a beautiful, dark-haired stranger.
“Ducks live in the pond, yellow ducks, happy ducks!”
Lan Wangji stops in his tracks.

Summary
Dedue has long since come to terms with the fact that Dimitri is an impossibility. He is a brave man, an emotional man. He is perfect and flawed.
He is missing.
As Dedue recovers from injuries sustained while saving the one person he has ever loved, he finds himself refamiliarizing himself with the language of his childhood. There are some… growing pains. Fortunately nothing that can't be fixed.
Or: the five times that the people of Duscur misunderstand Dedue's references to Dimitri and the one time they completely understand.
