Many villagers claimed it was then bad luck to do such a thing, but Wei Wuxian had found such logic ridiculous and always opted to stare when the mysterious god drifted high above their tiny village. Even now, in the bright afternoon sun, with Hanguang-Jun descending on him, Wei Wuxian can’t find it in himself to look away.

Summary
Jiang Yanli manages to calm Wei Wuxian at the battle of Nightless City, but people are still calling for blood. In a desperate attempt to protect him, Lan Wangji grabs Wei Wuxian and runs, hiding them both in an old motel far outside of the cultivation realm. There isn’t much time before it’ll all crash down, but for the moment, he can pretend maybe everything will be alright.
Fix-it fic featuring a soft blend of canon and modern au because I couldn’t resist the aesthetic of a run-down motel.

“Wei Ying wants to kiss me?” He said it low, like he was speaking to himself.
Wei Wuxian desperately wanted to deny it for his dignity, but he couldn’t bring himself to, not when Lan Zhan was staring at him with such disbelieving earnestness. Somehow, it felt like holding a glass flower. Beautiful, delicate, one wrong move and it could shatter.
“I-I mean… I don’t not want to kiss you, but it’s also, like, not all the time? Only most times? I’m not making any sense. Let’s just forget this, okay?”
“So, Wei Ying wouldn’t kiss me?”-or-
Wei Wuxian just wanted to play yet another prank on Lan Zhan during their time in the library, but he ends up having to confront the reality that, sometimes, he just really, really wants to kiss him. And the even more unbelievable reality that Lan Zhan doesn't seem opposed to it.
