The thing was, Wei Ying wasn't always chaos in feline form. Most of the time he was a perfectly normal human, or at least, as normal as a werecat could be. As normal as anyone could be if they were forced to spend three nights every lunar month in a cat-shaped body.
And besides, it wasn't as though Wei Ying wanted to be a part time cat. He didn't. The moon nights were an inconvenience to be endured, and the rest of the time, he was as human as possible and that was that as far as he was concerned.
Meeting Lan Zhan in cat form was entirely accidental.

A-Yuan shrieked and Wei Ying couldn't reach these zombies, he'd run out of juice and he couldn’t catch his breath. The bike was barely upright, he couldn't keep it that way and use his sword at the same time, it was over.
He curled forward over A-Yuan and screwed his eyes shut to brace against the pain.
It didn't come. Something cool and clean rushed over his head and the zombie cries abruptly cut off.
In which Wei Ying is a necromancer in the middle of a zombie apocalpyse but that's only where he begins. Sometimes the darkest night brings the brightest dawn.

“I date!” Wei Ying protests, “I could be dating. You don’t know my life A-Yuan. I could be going on plenty of dates.” He’s not. He occasionally finds a booty call on tinder or grindr or whatever miscellaneous dating app he has on his phone at the time, but he hasn’t even done that in a while.
“When? You’re pretty much always with me when you’re not at work.”
“Maybe I’m a secret agent, living a double life, raising you nights and weekends and solving crimes with a partner during the day. I could pull it off, you know?”
“Dad,” A-Yuan says seriously.
Wei Ying blinks at him and says “Wei Yuan,” in his best imitation of seriousness.

That, Jiang Cheng, is how someone gets fucking pregnant.” He finishes, removing his hand from Jiang Cheng’s mouth only to jab a finger at him.
Jiang Cheng looks like he wants to self immolate and/or possibly murder someone.
In the meantime, their waitress has arrived and looks like she wants to quit her job and run away to live in the woods. Wei Ying relates.
“Well then,” The waitress starts, clapping her hands together and very visibly pretending like the entire restaurant didn’t just witness what happened, “Can I get you guys anything to start? Drinks? Appetizers?”
Wei Ying is leaving her such a big tip.Or, sometimes you get knocked up and then fall in love with the super hot Lan boy who swoops in to save your ass.
