He didn't like change, at all. But meeting Robin and adapting and growing around her wasn't bad, he just learnt who he was and how he would fit her into his routine.
Which, now, as Steve watches Robin fiddle with the handmade bracelet he just knows Robin didn't make, he figures; yeah, maybe change isn't all that bad.
Bringing himself out of his thoughts, he takes another bite from his chocolate bar, quietly observing Robin as she smiles fondly at her bracelets.
“So,” he starts, blunt, because when is he not. “How long have you and Vickie been dating?”

He cuts himself off, jaw tight, because saying it out loud feels like giving it too much weight. But the thought hovers there anyway. Falling. Head hitting pavement. Either ending everything, or breaking enough pieces to start over without remembering any of it. Without remembering Billy, or Barb, or Starcourt, or Vecna. Without remembering him.
His hand shakes as he wipes it across his jeans.
“You still…” His breath catches, chest caving in on itself. “You still take up every damn thought I’ve got... I don’t know how to stop missing you.”

Summary
Steve had never really put much thought into why getting dates came so easy for him. It was something people seemed to admire in him, envy even, so he just wore it with pride. Steve Harrington the flirt, the charmer, the king. He had never questioned why he didn't get crushes like his friends, why he didn't care as much when a girl turned him down. He had just done what he thought he was supposed to even if it resulted in a lot of unsatisfying dates with girls he couldn't find a spark with. It isn't until he gives up on dating and meets Eddie Munson that he begins to understand it all.
