Summary
After five years away, Lan Xichen returns to the city he studied in, that his friends and family still reside in, and that his first love may still be in. He's going back for a couple months for work, and everywhere he looks he's plagued by memories; some good, some bad, and some that make his heart ache in a way that's become familiar for him since he first left.
And then, in a city of almost three million people, he sees Jiang Cheng again, and he's reminded of everything he used to have.

“Meng Yao is back,” he says. He tries to school his face into a normal, neutral expression, but whatever Lan Huan sees must be pitiful, by the way his eyes sadden. Or maybe the sadness has nothing to do with Jiang Cheng. Maybe it was the reminder of the heartbreak Lan Huan had suffered at being abandoned by Meng Yao.
“He is. He returned to Hainan for a few years, at his father’s request. He… is now here, for the time being.”
“I see.” Jiang Cheng looks away. He can’t look at the pity in Lan Huan’s eyes, or the longing, the yearning. He certainly can’t look at the door to Lan Huan’s apartment, knowing that he is in there, the one great love of Lan Huan’s life.

Summary
Lan Xichen, expecting another quiet night in seclusion, instead finds himself dealing with a very drunk Sect Leader Jiang—one who is unusually affectionate and apparently incapable of keeping his thoughts and hands to himself.
