Summary
As with any sporting event, the Poughkeepsie Regatta has its traditions and rituals. Some of these are stoic and dignified. Some are not.
The post-race “revenge” against the coxswains is very much in the latter category.
Bobby Moch would do almost anything to see the East Coast teams knocked down a peg - wearing a dress for one party is nothing to him. Of course, that doesn't mean that it's not everything to someone else.

That looming deadline is why he’s considering this thrice-damned fucking foolish plan. The reality is that Don is feeling too much for a man who should just be one of his best friends. And Don does cherish that friendship, more than anything, but he can’t let this continue. If he does then one day it’ll all come out, either in a touch that lasts too long or in words Don won’t be able to keep holding back, and it’ll destroy him. Hell, it might destroy them both: if Bobby was to realise the sorts of things his dear friend has been wanting and thinking and dreaming of, surely that would gut him too.
Don has been in love with Bobby almost since meeting him. When some asshole throws a crude insult into the mix it nearly drives the tall stroke insane - and forces the situation to a head.

Summary
The arrival at Erid is a momentous occasion. Rocky is excited and thrilled. Ryland is overwhelmed. But the reunion is happy, beautiful, amazing.
Or that's what it should have been. Except Rocky gets hurt, Ryland is left to try and communicate with an alien planet, and everyone is scrambling to figure out how to do this. To Grace, this is incredible but also bittersweet - he got Rocky home safely with the taumoeba, now he just gets... to starve. To Erid, this is insane - how did Rocky show up in an alien spaceship with a child???
...
Ryland Grace is stuck trying to speak Eridian, immediately makes himself sound like a child, and Rocky's world and family scramble to help this strange pebble. Misunderstandings galore, alongside hurt/comfort and angst and fluff.
