Ichigo busies himself getting out a notebook, but he goes still in the middle of reaching for his bag. He must be imagining it, but there it is: a wisp of Rukia’s reiatsu.
“I’m so pleased to be back amongst you again,” her voice – the fake one, high and sweet – says.
He looks up, and she’s at the front of the classroom, just rising from a shallow curtsy and wearing a perfectly pressed school uniform. “Rukia,” he breathes.
