Summary
"Do you think we'll dream of each other, now?" Nicolò asks unexpectedly. "Like we do those two women?"
It startles a real laugh out of Yusuf. "Who knows? Sometimes, Nicolò, I think I must have dreamed you entirely."
After escaping the fall of Jerusalem together, Yusuf walks away from Nicolò in order to return home and move on with his life. It works for a while. Fifteen years later, Nicolò shows up in his dreams of the two immortal women.
(In which Yusuf needs time to come to terms with destiny, and Nicolò to make peace with himself, before they can meet on equal ground.)

Summary
Yusuf realises that he is in love in the mountains.
It is colder than he is used to. Niccolò does not seem to mind, although he sometimes shivers in his (stolen) clothes like a drowned rat.
For the four years - or is it six? ten? he cannot tell and he does not care how long it is, so long as Niccolò is by his side - that they have been travelling, most of his contemplative thoughts have fallen into one of two categories. The first is their Affliction and everything that goes with it.
The second is, of course, Niccolò di Genova and everything about him.

Summary
He wakes up in a hospital in Varna, Bulgaria, on a Thursday.
He has no idea how he got there, or who he is.
As he tries to gather himself, a policeman walks in. They explain that he was found on the outskirts of city in the dock. The policeman wants to know who he is and how he got there. They also want to know why they’d found him in clothes that were covered in blood.
They tell him his name is Niccolo.
Niccolo would like to know the answers to the policeman’s questions as well.

Summary
The Orcs had moved off, their noise and their stench following them. The beasts had given up their incessant growling to go sniff at a half-eaten carcass in the mud some yards away. Silence rolled in like fog, heavy and bleak.
Had it not been so still, so quiet, Bilbo wouldn’t have heard the Elf’s breath catch in his throat. Had he not heard that, he also might’ve actually left him there.
But Bilbo did hear it. He knew that noise, he knew it well. It’s what someone sounds like when they’re trying very, very hard not to cry.
Set somewhere in the Battle of Five Armies, Bilbo makes a pit-stop (and a friend?) on his way to give the Arkenstone to Thranduil.
