Summary
A collection of insights starting after the events of Homecoming, mostly from Tony's perspective. The relationship that Tony and Peter had built by the time Infinity War happened (or not - I'm not a big fan) wasn't built on any big world-ending events, but on countless lab sessions, movie nights, smaller emergencies, and conversations. All of these combined to form a bond between them just as strong as blood ties, and just as unbreakable. I feel like we missed out on all that on-screen, so I can never read enough stories that would maybe cover that period.

Peter finds that surviving and living are two very different things. It's a cruel and unfortunate thing to discover.

After a few minutes, voice small and shaking, Peter broke the silence. “May, I think I’m going crazy.”
Looking over at her nephew sitting in the passenger’s seat of the car, May didn’t fail to notice his hands curled into fists in his lap, as if to halt their constant tremors. She knew Peter was hurting. She knew he was reaching for some sort of solid ground. Something stable. Something that wasn’t there. But until that very moment, until May heard Peter utter those words, those broken, hopeless words, she hadn’t fully realized the gravitas of the situation.

"Jesus Christ, Pete," the voice says again, and it's not just a voice. It's a voice that belongs to the shadow. The shadow is light in the dark. It's warm. "What are you doing on the floor? You're lucky you're by your bed or else it would have been you breaking my fall."
Peter blinks at the shadow and can't tell if he's comforted or irritated by the new company.
"What? No quip about me breaking a hip?" There's silence. "Peter?"
