Summary
Gwayne Hightower and Ormund Hightower have been mates for fifteen years, raising Daeron Hightower as their own son. Their family is loving but strained by Ormund's untreated OCD, autism, rigid routines, and violent outbursts, which have left Gwayne and Daeron constantly navigating his moods. After secretly researching his behaviour, Gwayne realizes Ormund needs professional help. Now pregnant after years of fertility struggles, Gwayne decides he can no longer ignore the problem. For the sake of Daeron, their unborn children, and their marriage, he confronts Ormund and demands that he finally seek help. But Gwayne does not expect just how much deeper Ormund’s struggles run as Ormund begins confronting his own past.

Summary
A crack.
Then another.
And another.
At first, he thinks mice, but mice does not scratch like that, does not make a noise like that.
Have you seen them, ser?
Dunk stands. He walks, he carefully, slowly walks. His feet meet soft, cold carpet and there are beads of sweat running down his brows, dropping off his chin.
Smoke. There is smoke.
But no fire. Nothing of sort. Not yet, something seems to murmur. Not yet.
Dunk comes to stand in front of the cradle. He hesitates.
Watch them. Watch and see them, ser.
Dunk follows the Targaryens to Summerhall.
And he finds more than just the metaphorical dragons. As new eyes open, it brings about a change that is both hoped and dreaded in equal measure, but more importantly, like a new verse added to the old song, it is something needed by the House of the Dragon.

Summary
Baelor is thirty six, the crown prince, and has buried one wife already. He did not ask for another but a rebellion does not care what you ask for, and so he found himself wed to a brother half his age in the name of Targaryen unity.
Maekar is eighteen, an omega, and has spent three years at Summerhall understanding exactly what he is to his husband; an arrangement. A political necessity. An afterthought, not that this is anything new.
With the rebellion reshaping itself and a unified front to maintain, they are summoned to King's Landing to begin the marriage in earnest.
Neither of them is particularly pleased about it.

Summary
“I followed you because watching this has simply become unbearable,” Ormund finally forced out. “That is why.”
“Watching what, exactly?”
“Watching you let just anyone touch you,” Ormund finally forced out in a low voice, his gaze darting away just as restlessly. “Watching how easily you give those smiles away to everyone, as though they cost you nothing. As though you yourself”—he placed a slightly sharper emphasis on the last word—“are worth nothing.”
“So you would have preferred it if I saved all of this for just one person?” Gwayne’s old boldness returned to his voice, though it was thinner now, more cautious. His eyes narrowed, clearly intent on making Ormund just as uncomfortable.
He had hoped to back Gwayne into a corner, but, foolishly, he had failed to consider that he could just as easily find himself trapped there with him.
~
OR a story where after years of secret longing, Ormund catches Gwayne flirting with one of the knights, finally loses his mind, and confesses his feelings to Gwayne.
