Summary
Hanahaki Disease: a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love, ending when the beloved returns their feelings (romantic love), or when the victim dies. Can be cured through surgical removal, but when the infection is removed, the victim's romantic feelings for their love also disappear.
Striders didn't have feelings. That was for girls, being weak and crying and in love. With a boy none the less, Dave could almost laugh at it. If it weren't for the bandages binding his chest and the roots wrapped around his heart. If he could speak around the flowers pushing up his throat and making him choke. If it weren't for the thorns tearing into his lungs, blood pooling. If only he hadn't ever become friends with Karkat Vantas, he might not be dying.
People say that flowers are romantic. He wants to laugh, because he didn't want romantic, he didn't want those shitty flowers inside him.
Because now, flowers come with a toxic form of growth, and he feels like saying something to Karkat about how wouldnt go well.
He just wanted to get rid of these shitty feelings and shitty plants.Edit 9/12/18: There is the possibility this story will be expanded upon!

Summary
Toby arrives at the Slender Man's manor expecting to be ignored. Instead he keeps finding Jack in the dark corridors, the dead courtyard, the kitchen at 3 a.m. and Jack keeps staying.
They are not good for each other. Jack's silence swallows Toby's chaos whole; Toby claws at Jack's careful containment until something cracks. They fight badly and apologize worse and keep circling back anyway, drawn together by the one thing neither of them can find anywhere else: someone who doesn't ask them to pretend.
It isn't healthy. It isn't clean. But when Toby disappears into the winter forest for six days and Jack is the one who comes looking, maybe that's enough. Maybe that's the closest two things like them are going to get.
