Summary
Martin was burning the candle at both ends. He knew that.
Between dealing with the possible rising Extinction, to his slowly developing affinity to the Lonely; there's a lot to handle all at once.
And even a week free of Peter Lukas, of what feels like a bit more freedom to roam around the Archive and not be restricted to his small office in his small corner of the Institute, Martin doesn't feel exactly right.
Even Jon can notice that much. The drifting eyes, the absence that settles into Martin's gaze. The zoning out. Confusion.
The sickening way Martin drops to the floor like his strings had been severed.

There's fire on one side of him, alongside Jon and Daisy who were priming to fight back against an approaching, burning Jude Perry.What they need is a way out. A door, something, anything that doesn't mean they risk burning to death cut off from the world in a storage basement in a country-house they might have broken into.
Martin had seen a Leitner on the shelf at the far side of the room, and the three of them were running out of options.

Summary
Martin is moved from the Library into a position he is in no way qualified for. Thinking only of his mother's nursing home bills, he takes the job and starts to unwillingly fall for his boss. Navigating through feelings he knows will never be reciprocated and a lie that keeps growing as he tries to figure out what the hell do you do in an archive.
Jon has received a promotion and is finally being able to be taken seriously. However he is met with an impossible task and a skillset that doesn't suit his new position. Panicking about how Under-Quallified he is Jon learns to rely and trust the people around him. Including his new assistant that won't stop offering to make him tea.

They see charismatic CEO Dean Winchester and his mostly silent companion and decide that Castiel Novak-Winchester is just the trophy husband, the sugar baby Dean is spoiling.
Dean and Castiel let them believe it; they even play into it. If the employees think Castiel uses the high-tech setup for videos, games, and shopping sprees with Dean’s card instead of the algorithms that serve as the heart of the company, they leave him alone. No small talk, no gossip, and no questions on how it all works. Castiel prefers it that way, and Dean would do anything to protect his husband's peace.
In the end, it isn’t the math that makes Castiel break his silence, but bees.

Martin’s heart sinks. Just his luck to get a claim right when he’s supposed to be going home, and this caller sounds like the kind of person who’ll probably spend ages going over everything in pedantic detail and demanding reassurance on a dozen points, most of which will be completely irrelevant.

It is not a particularly complicated plan, but that will probably work in its favour. Simpler is better. Fewer things that could go wrong.
Of course, there are still plenty of things that could go wrong. He could forget his lines. He could get sidetracked by a statement or something and forget about the plan altogether. He could suddenly take ill and have to be rushed to hospital.
