Fresh off a long shift at work, all Lily wants is a nice evening with her girls at their favourite pub. When their nice evening is interrupted by a drunk man, she fears the worst, at least until he starts waxing lyrical about his lovely husband and their beautiful son.
While it’s not the calm evening she expected, she can’t deny that the guy is amusing and she’s content to sit back and watch the show. Who knows, she may even get the balls to finally ask Mary Macdonald on a date.

James’ head shot in the direction of the voice that seemed to spring from the darkness on the ledge, before he realised there was actually a short, haughty Black brother in its place. He stood rigidly, arms crossed and chin down like he was wary of what James would do next.
This was just a great start, wasn’t it?
James, ever the friend, takes it upon himself to remedy the situation when Sirius vocalizes his worry for his younger brother. He doesn't expect that this will take him far beyond the quick conversation he anticipated. No, he didn't expect this at all.

James didn't mean to fall in love, especially not like this. But he did. And now he is paying the price.
