Summary
“I’m okay, Alex,” Kara says, her voice rough and shaky and somehow - somehow - so completely nonchalant. As if her life hadn’t just ended. As if Alex’s heart hadn’t stopped right alongside hers.
“Don’t,” Alex snaps, thin and harsh and sudden. She’s on her feet before she can even process it, pacing the room. Alex isn’t good with sorrow. She never has been. So she gathers up all her pain and her fear and her leftover misery and allows it to get twisted into anger, because that’s what she’s best at. That’s all she’s good for anymore. “You are not ‘okay’, Kara. You - You died. You were dead. Like actually, genuinely, heart-not-beating dead.”
In the kitchen, Eliza falls silent. Kara’s lips twitch downwards, her shoulders curling in on herself. But then she straightens, tongue darting out to catch the blood that’s beading on her lip, and offers a lopsided smile. “But I’m okay now,” she assures. “Or — maybe not okay, but I’m better. I’m breathing. My heart’s beating. It’s okay.”
or: kara danvers dies, and alex does nothing but watch. she doesn't know how she's supposed to live with that guilt.

Summary
“You never made your wish.”
Kara offers a half-smile, looking down at the dancing flame atop the candle. “I don’t really have anything to wish for.”
“Well,” Alex drawls, glancing down at her wristwatch, “you only have one minute to come up with an idea.”
Kara knows what she wants to wish for. That isn’t the problem. The problem is that her wish is selfish: she wants her sister back. She wants things to go back to like how they were before. She wants to be her sister’s person again. But that’s greedy, and Alex is happy, and Kara doesn’t want to take that away from her.
So Kara closes her eyes, silently wishes for Alex’s continued happiness, and she blows out the candle.

Summary
Kara saves Lena Luthor before she officially meets her. It’s only a day later when Kara walks into her first biochem lecture of the semester and lays eyes upon the very same woman, tucked away in the very back of the hall.
Kara stops. Blinks. Considers she may be hallucinating. But other people are staring, doing doubletakes, and Kara realises that Lena Luthor is very much real. And so Kara, so deeply curious and enthralled by this woman, climbs the steps to the very back of the hall and awkwardly hovers behind a seat one chair away from her. She’s — stunning isn’t a strong enough word. Breathtaking. She’s beautiful, and she was before, but even more beautiful now that her face isn’t marred with panic and distress.
“Um,” Kara says, stiffly sticking a hand out in the space between them, “hi. I’m Kara.”
or: kara is spider-woman, lena luthor is her best friend, and no matter what, these two things will not change.

“Ow,” Kara whines, and Lena tries not to roll her eyes too obviously as she ceases her movements.
“You have come back from death, Kara. Surely this does not hurt that bad in comparison.”
“I’m fragile,” Kara complains, but her lips are curled up at the corners and her eyes are full of mirth.
“You’re indestructible,” Lena retorts.
“I’m multifaceted.” Lena rolls her eyes again, making sure Kara sees it, and Kara laughs as light as air.

Mxy’s frown deepens. His brows furrow. He closes his eyes, mutters to himself, before throwing his head back and heaving a loud sigh. “Just for the record, I think this is a horrible idea.”
Relief floods Kara’s body. She breathes out a small sigh. “So you’ll do it?”
“Yes, fine. I’ll do it. Of course I’ll do it. I would do anything for you, Kara Zor-El.”
“Thank you,” Kara says, as sincere as she can be. Mxy softens up a bit. She spares one last glance towards her family, their smiling faces, and she does everything she can to memorize them. When she turns to face Mxy, she sets her shoulders straight. “Mxy. I need you to make everyone forget about me: Kara Danvers, Kara Zor-El, Supergirl – all of them. At least until it’s safe.”

She mumbles something that would be unintelligible to anything else but them. But it's them, so Ichika recognises the exact tone and cadence of the words Shiho-chan's so mean.

“Did you seriously fall asleep?”
Ichika blinks slowly, disoriented and confused. Why is it so dark? Where is she? Where are her friends? As her vision gradually comes back to her, all her questions are answered: she’s in the movie theater, the credits are rolling, the lights are fading back to a dim, and the faces of Saki, Honami, and Shiho all peer down at her as they stand around her chair.
“Hrk—“ she groans, to answer Shiho’s question.
“She did fall asleep,” Saki says, and laughs, shooting Shiho a smug grin. “I won the bet. You owe me money now.”
