A lock clicks. There’s a distinct sound of internal tumblers shifting. Jack watches helplessly as the door opens with an iron groan and the blonde devil herself slithers in.

Bosco LeRoy is having a monumentally shitty day.
First, he wakes up late, which wasn’t a problem when it was just him, Charlie, and June, but it’s not just them anymore, it’s them and the Horsemen. The goddamn Horsemen. He might’ve put on a show of nonchalance when Atlas first appeared in their hideout, but holy shit was it hard to keep a lid on it. He’s been idolizing J. Daniel Atlas since middle school, and there he was right in front of him, offering them not only a job but a chance to do something beyond swindling egotistical crypto bros and finance jerks. The last thing he wanted to do was to come off as an overzealous kid having bitten off more than he could chew, and now that he’s been welcomed into the Eye’s ranks that pressure has increased tenfold. So, waking up late? Out of the question. He would not have Atlas or Dylan or any of the other Horsemen thinking he wasn’t taking this opportunity seriously.

Gina Porter knows she can be prideful. She is well aware of her tendencies to be stubborn and iron-willed and resolute (a trait her Mom likes to say she got from her); pushing her muscles dancing until she got the move just right, no matter the toll it takes, all-nighters studying scripts and flashcards until the ink and highlighters stain her fingers to ensure optimal grades in her everyday classes and a meticulous performance during rehearsals. She puts in effort every day to be good, to be the best, she does it all on her own, and is, rightfully so, proud of herself. She starts to believe that she doesn’t need anyone else, that she’s perfectly fine on her own. Her Mom is busy with work to provide for them, to keep her dancing, keep her happy, so she says nothing about the crumbling loneliness, puts on her best face and reminds herself that she is proud and strong and doesn’t need anyone’s help.
She also knows that it is that line of thinking that has led her here, by herself in Ashlyn’s home, a pulsing ache behind her eyes and a painful scratchiness to her throat.

Summary
When Miss Jenn asked him to keep an eye on her kids, he wasn’t that concerned. The group of them were almost adults, sorta, kind of (well, maybe not, if the time he caught the lot of them arguing in the middle of class about which Disney princess was superior proves anything), but he had faith they could at the very least keep themselves alive through a play rehearsal with minimal damage to the surrounding props and costumes.
He did not, however, have faith in them in the sudden event of a power outage and freak snow storm trapping them all in the building.

“It is nice to meet you, Shane Hollander.” Ilya nods his head at the crumpled paper in Shane’s hand. “What is that you have there?”
“Oh.” Shane’s cheeks are a perpetual state of flushed red. “Before I came, I made a list of, um, things I am looking for in a car? Practical things, I guess. I didn’t want to forget.”
Ilya’s lips quiver, and he resists the urge to let an incredibly fond smile overtake his face. This tall, muscular omega could not be more precious if he was made of teddy bears and heart stickers.
“May I see it?” Ilya inquires, extending his hand again.
With visible reluctance, Shane passes over the piece of notebook paper.
Ilya glances up at Shane, arching an eyebrow. The omega smiles shyly at him, his warm brown eyes glimmering.
“Am I completely out of my mind to try and find all of these things in one car?” he asks.
“I never let a customer leave unhappy.” He winks at Shane, who lets out a small, startled laugh. It’s an utterly breathtaking sound, even as brief as it is.
