Summary
He never really could ignore that invisible string tethering him and Ryan together. Naim could feel it tugging at him, could see it tighten around the other's bruised knuckles whenever he was near. But he knew better; he knew that he couldn't allow himself to draw closer. He had to restrain himself, even if he knew that by doing so, a little part of him would break - and he wouldn't be able to reunite with it ever again.
An alternate timeline in which Naim and Ryan never realized that the only way to escape the entity is by staying together. Unfortunately, one can only run from their demons for so long.
