Summary
One of the earliest lessons Mav was ever taught was that it didn't matter if you had a sunspot, if you found your flare; it didn't mean you were going to live happily ever after. The world could take them just as readily as it took anyone else, except you'd have the luxury of experiencing it with a front-row seat in your other half's mind.
He'd watched it happen to his mom one random Wednesday evening during dinner. Had watched the way she'd gone still, the way her skin had gone sheet-white, the way her hands started to shake as she knocked over her glass of wine.
And that had been when he remembered that she'd told him about how she and his dad were soulmates; how, when he was close enough, she could hear his thoughts and he could hear hers. She'd told him his dad was too far away to feel while he was off fighting to protect them, but apparently he hadn't been too far for her to feel him die. To feel that bond shatter.

or, in a world where you know your soulmate at first touch, Mav tries to make sure his can never reach him. Until they find him where he least expects it.Series

Summary
A world where people are given, through reoccurring dreams, 1 to 5 details of their soulbond. The face, the place, the day, the time, or the name. Average is 2 clues. Unlucky bastards get only 1. Lucky people get 3 or 4. No one gets all 5.
Maverick is one lucky unlucky bastard. Even though it is his only clue, he knows exactly where he will bond with his soulmate: Charlie's house. But, as it turned out, Charlie wasn't the One at all.
Now, heartbroken, Maverick wishes he didn't know that That House is The Place.
Because Iceman just moved into it.

Summary
Out of all the things Maverick had expected to eventually kill him — getting caught in someone’s jetwash, being shot out of the sky, his plane’s engine exploding — getting shot by one of his students in a civilian bar didn’t even make the top ten.
He never expected Ice to take a bullet for him, either.
There's a first time for everything.
