Summary
"His back cracked like an old floor when he got up. Now, the exile time — triage. It was another new, shocking decision Frank made. To not engage in any conversation with Robby or Al-Hashimi. With all the knowledge he gathered during many, many first days on the fourth of July, it was easy to avoid them. The only person Frank actively sought was Mel. It always, without fail, tugged at his heart how happy she was to see him. Melissa King made the repetition less unbearable. He could always make this day better for her, if not for himself."
or,
Frank Langdon is stuck on his first day post-rehab. Time Loop AU.

Summary
“You've got a date tonight?” he asked.
“With a guy named Tony DiFiore,” she said. “He asked me out at the grocery store last week.”
Something deep behind his ribs tightened. This Tony guy asked her out last week. Days ago. They’d hung out three times since then, and worked together almost every single day. Mel with her hair down, sitting across from someone who wasn't him, grinning when they made her laugh. She had the right.
Mel was still looking at him. “Do you think I should go?”
“What's the worst that could happen?”
He said that. He actually fucking said that.
And now there was no way for him to take it back.

Summary
“It would be handy just to skip all the nonsense,” she says without thinking, looking back down at her laptop.
Langdon leans forward a little. “Skip the nonsense, how?”
Mel can feel herself getting warm, her cheeks flushing. “I think you know how,” she says evasively. They all think she’s some sheltered virgin here, like she hasn’t lived a life outside these ED walls. “Friends with benefits isn’t that uncommon.”

Summary
Maybe the version of himself from a few years ago would be having a great time right now. Maybe he’d be drinking his third Negroni, laughing loudly, and squeezing Abby’s thigh suggestively under the table.
Unfortunately, this Frank, a father of two in recovery and on probation at work, was quickly learning that spending time with their old college friends while sober was a completely different experience, and not a particularly enjoyable one.
OR
Frank Langdon has several existential crises. Somehow, Mel King and cheese pizza are always involved.
