    Eda stared at Raine's flushed, yet determined, face for a full twenty seconds.
    And then she promptly lifted them off their feet and set them to the side.
    "Wha-Eda...?" Raine blinked at Eda as she stumbled past them without a word. "Are you... okay?"
    "You're aware it's six-thirty in the morning, right?" Eda rasped, throwing open the cupboards. "And that I got maybe two hours of sleep?"
    "Yes?" Raine said, voice pitching higher with uncertainty.
    "So you should also know, dear Rainestorm," Eda drawled as she dragged out a bottle, "is that I cannot deal with this amount of stupidity this early in the morning without my apple blood."

     


    Or, Raine has a stupid question, but Eda loves her idiot anyway.

    Luz cheers, splashing water into the air. “Yeah, I like that book!”

     

    “Quiet short stack, you can’t even read.” Eda shoots back, ignoring the way Luz sticks her tongue out in defense.

     

    “I can read! I can read: Cat, Dog, Light, Cup, Tree, and Luz.”

     

    “Yes I know, that poem you wrote to me was breathtaking and we’re very proud of you.” The mom answers tiredly, running both hands through her wild mane of thick hair.
