Wei Ying watches him wordlessly, warily. Jiang Cheng being open is something rather rare, and most of the time Jiang Cheng throws it back in his face.
“It’s because I don’t trust you as far as I can throw you,” Jiang Cheng spits and Wei Ying sucks in a breath like he’s been punched in the gut, “It’s because you lied to me and then almost abandoned me when I needed you the most. It’s because you might love me but is that enough? I’m not even sure you respect me.”
The ugly thing in his throat is still there. The jealousy is gone now, but the ugly thing in his throat is still there and Wei Ying has no idea what it is anymore. All he knows is that it’s done with rationality, with reason.
