Summary
"Who-?" Charles cuts himself off before he has time to finish the question.
There, on the ground, the man shifts, his head snapping up, eyes immediately locking in on Charles's figure. His blue eyes, deep as the ocean, so familiar to Charles, because he has just seen them last night, has spent hours talking to the man. With snapping clarity, he realizes what he's seeing - who he's seeing.
"Max?" he breathes out, his voice barely audible, even in the silence surrounding them.
At the same time, Batman, because Charles can no longer ignore the broken cowl lying at the man's feet, stares up at him, forcing out a quiet, but relieved: "Charles."
