The right balance of tension and sweet to see how things were being challenged and changing and the resistance to push through. Balanced by the relationships we get to see in flashes. Characterization might be ever so slightly OOC, but that's the nature of changing the plot entirely.
Solid 9.5/10.

Alexei is an unrepentant dick, who does nothing but make his brothers life worse and get himself and Ilya disowned. David and Yuna are nosy but so supportive. Jackie and Sveta are wonderful and so supportive, even through some serious shit. (Jackie has a gay brother who actually gets a little screen time!)

Emotional intimacy and fluff abound.
Series follows them through Shane supporting Ilya after his dad dies, including packing for him (peach to the paste, finding a picture of Irina in his luggage on the way back) meeting Marley and a few other raiders, which goes surprisingly smoothly. Someone has clearly spent a lot of time outdoors, no glaring inaccuracies that I noticed. Really well done.
The growing attachment and intimacy is also well done and they are very fucking cute when not being idiots.

For Shane, every encounter is a small political suicide. For Ilya, every encounter is an internal restructuring he has not asked for. Both corps depend on the corridor. Just finished it. Absolutely fantastic. Does a good job subtly showing Shane's ND bits without making it needlessly dramatic. Ilya is a little more openly needy bc they got to be vulnerable a lot quicker due to Shane asking for clarification.
Them just talking more really does change things pretty quick even if the overall plot doesn't change that much that fast.
Looks like shaney boy is finally leaving MTL and ending up somewhere a little closer to his heart and home.

The mystery and magical realism tags are working really hard here. It's a fun ride and I live the imagery and vibes. Give/take/circular energy transfer with nature and places is such a fun concept to see explored and laid out this way.
Loved the different perspectives and investigative journalism parts.
Really well done I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Ollie is one of my favorite OCs of all time and the relationships between the main trio are just so fucking adorable and tender and sweet. I love them so much.
I loved reading about Ilya and Shane having the big hard discussions and making things work as grown ass adults, even when it's hard.

I had no idea where this was going at the beginning but I'm glad I trusted the process. It's so good. The touch of magical realism adds a lovely little sparkle to a dark pivot from canon.
The epilogue is so fucking sweet. I may not have literally cried, but it was a close thing.
I love it so much.

Absolutely fantastic and deeper than I expected for a fairly campy premise.
I expected more Shaun of the Dead and less Last of Us, but have been very much impressed despite myself.
Was toward the end of the first chapter when I needed to sleep. Not sure if it was excess caffeine or Zombie-related waking dreams that kept me from sleeping, but my brain kept substituting Ilya and Shane into the Last of Us episode with Bill and Frank. Fucking ow.Having now finished the work. It was both difficult to get through and also impossible to put down.
Really fucking well done. I get the hype. I may even end up rereading it.

Follow up to a rework of Wolfbird where Shane and Ilya meet at the shelter instead of at Wolfbird.
They've gotten back from a summer at Shane's parents cottage. Ilya is back to working at Wolfbird and volunteering at the shelter.
Shane is back at the rink in pre-season training.
Their lives are blended but still with separate bits, I'm curious about what challenges will be coming up next.

Who knows if OA will ever finish the inspo (hopefully with no AI involved this time) but I'm chosing to take this as my head canon of how it should have finished.
