The 90s are good– the Cold War is coming to an end, the entire Party lives together in their very own duplex, Nirvana just came out with their debut album, and Max is giving people unlicensed tattoos.
There are a few undeniable facts: Mike and Will are probably working the closing shift this weekend. The things you don't expect to bite you in the ass always do, without mercy. The entire party, as they know it, is officially coupling up. Mike (wants to) know damn near everything about Will Byers down to his underwear. Mike is trying his fucking hardest to never hurt Will Byers again.
There are a multitude of unknowns: Is it gay to have casual sex with your classmate if he says it isn't gay? Is it totally incriminating to never ask your own gay best friend that question? Does Will Byers have a secret boyfriend? Is Mike accidentally secretly in love with his own best friend?
Or: Mike and Will are unknowingly hooking up casually with the same DL in a simultaneous effort to cope with their unrequited feelings for one another.

What the fuck just happened? Did he see that correctly? Mike rubs his eyes and gazes at the bar again as if it would give him clarity. “Shit,” he curses. That was definitely real. And that was definitely not an affair or a business meeting. That was something shady, something sinister. It isn’t supposed to be something Mike should know about. This was a devious secret Ted kept wrapped behind his ordinary shopfront.

So when Will's body ends up on one of Mike's tables, he recognizes him immediately.
It's an unfortunate way to finally meet someone.

“I didn’t mean to.” Will says in a small voice.
“I know buddy. I know. I don’t blame you. It’s not your fault. He was a bad guy anyway ok?” Dustin says reassuringly.
Will shakes his head and looks down. Tears fall faster down his cheeks.“We need to get out of here. Find the others, ok?” Dustin leans over to catch Will’s gaze. Dustin helps him stand, the metal chair creaks slightly under the shift in weight. Dustin supports him around the waist and slings Will’s right arm around his shoulders. He bends down to snatch a keycard from the corpse on the floor.
The pair awkwardly hobble to the door.
Dustin presents the stolen card to the reader and waits for it to flash green.He opens the door slowly. It creaks, loud in the otherwise barren room.
Dustin strains his neck and peaks down the hallway.

“Steve?” Eddie asks, cautious and the immediate tightening of Steve’s jaw is all the indication he needs. Vecna isn’t the case. And Steve doesn’t seem to be injured either. Eddie’s fucked up somehow. “Is everything okay?”

They were expecting a visitor: a student from America, about their age, coming to learn from their mother and visit the area. Will and Jane were assigned to show him around as they usually were.
