Summary
Kanaya runs into her ex-girlfriend, Vriska, at one of June and Dave’s infamous large gatherings they organize, ostensibly meant to bring everyone in their extended friend group together, but usually just resulting in further interpersonal drama for everyone involved.

“I already know how this plays out, Jake.” The blond grips his cup a bit tighter, a sharp noise as it crinkles in his hand. “We argue for several minutes, we both try to make it work, it fails, we ignore each other for weeks, and rinse and motherfucking repeat.”
He continues, just as relentless as he was then. “Dude, it isn’t worth trying. We both know we’re astronomically shit at ‘trying to make things work.’ If anything, I’m just asking myself why we keep falling into the same shit again.”
