And what better way to evaluate it than to observe several hundred young people on a beach vacation?
Both Starfleet Academy and the Federation War College were descending onto Temtibi Lagoon for a week of sun, sand, and diplomatic negotiations.

Summary
Some months after the joint convocation ceremony, Tilly gathers the other instructors from the Discovery in Kelrec's office to see who his mother scrounged up to take the Starfleet Academy Theater Instructor exam and how they did.
Every last one of them failed, but not for the reason Tilly would have predicted. They bombed the practical applications section. When the Academy graduates realize why, they are reduced to tears of laughter while the War College graduates are confused. Time for a demonstration of what was once - and might be again - the most popular game at Starfleet Academy: Bad Ensign.

It's near the end of the first semester and Commander Reno and Cadet Lythe are trapped in a dead turbolift while the Athena speeds through a transwarp tunnel. They have two hours before the air goes stale, five before the carbon dioxide buildup exceeds safe levels.
They'll be exiting the tunnel in a little over an hour and a half and Jett would really, really, like a nap. Unfortunately, the words 'no life-support' caused Cadet Lythe to loose what little chill she had left.

This time, Katsuki’s reaction is strong enough to break through his impassive mask – his eyes widen and hurt washes over his face. Then a spark of resolve flashes through his eyes, Katsuki’s chin coming up sharply, determinedly, and Victor feels the bottom fall out of his stomach because he recognizes that expression.
It’s the same look Victor has seen in his soulmate’s eyes, during a soulmate flash; a look that strikes Victor deep in the heart with its intensity.
(Canon-based soulmate AU, in which soulmates experience signs, visions or sensory flashes about their partner. “Their reigning gold medalist has been practicing for hours, every day, for over twenty years. If you think we can send an agent who’s been trained as a sniper or a martial artist and expect to stay under the radar, you’re wrong.”
“Oh?” Matthews challenges. “And what’s your suggestion? We’re going to give a Glock to some teenager in spandex that already knows how to skate and hope he can defend a whole stadium against a bomb?”
“No.” Celestino stands, looks around the room, makes eye contact with a few other men in crisp suits, bullets and steel hanging at their hips. “We’ve been granted an opportunity. One of my operatives is a former Juniors World Champion.”

The last thing either of them should do, as they strive for their last chance at greatness, is to fall in love. Yuuri knows he is damaged goods, and Viktor knows his body is starting to fail him. They have competitions to survive and medals to win. No, falling in love is out of the question; they’re just very good friends. And even if Viktor felt something, he’d never act on it, and even if Yuuri happened to be hopelessly in love, he’d be mortified if Viktor ever found out.
“Well,” Viktor said, “let’s summarise: I’m pushing thirty, have a bad ankle, and haven’t skated competitively in three years. You’re barely out of a doping scandal, coachless, and on the JSF’s blacklist. Hell, Yuuri – we might as well go for it, then. What on earth do we have to lose?”
When Viktor put it like that, it seemed to make an awful lot of sense.

“You shouldn’t be running an onsen, you should be skating!” Phichit insisted, but Yuuri just shook his head. Phichit gave him a big grin. “Come on, let’s go back to the rink and take a spin, hmm? Oh come on, it’ll be fun! Like old times, let’s just goof around for a bit. Please? Pleeease? Oh, is that a smile? Lo and behold, Katsuki Yuuri smiles!”

A really fun (not-so) secret identity fic. Yuuri takes good notes, leads a study group, and then Victor crashes it and things get Extra.
Marianne’s phone chimes when she gets the email. She looks over the notes he sent her: they’re very detailed, complete with links to references and blockquotes from primary sources, put together in ways that make memorable connections between the lectures and the reading. “These are amazing! Thank you!” she emails back.
After class, “Thanks again for the notes,” Marianne says to Yuuri. “They’re really helpful. Are you still taking them? I didn’t see you typing.” Yuuri wouldn't be the first grad student to take incredibly detailed notes for the first couple of weeks and then slack off for the rest of the semester.
“I record the lectures,” Yuuri tells her, gesturing with his phone. “And then I listen again later and take notes on that and the reading, both. That’s how I study best.” He has an accent that comes and goes, lilting some words and phrases while others sound authentically slurred and American.
