It’s the same look Victor has seen in his soulmate’s eyes, during a soulmate flash; a look that strikes Victor deep in the heart with its intensity.

They have competitions to survive and medals to win. No, falling in love is out of the question; they’re just very good friends. And even if Viktor felt something, he’d never act on it, and even if Yuuri happened to be hopelessly in love, he’d be mortified if Viktor ever found out.
“Well,” Viktor said, “let’s summarise: I’m pushing thirty, have a bad ankle, and haven’t skated competitively in three years. You’re barely out of a doping scandal, coachless, and on the JSF’s blacklist. Hell, Yuuri – we might as well go for it, then. What on earth do we have to lose?”
When Viktor put it like that, it seemed to make an awful lot of sense.

Oh come on, it’ll be fun! Like old times, let’s just goof around for a bit. Please? Pleeease? Oh, is that a smile? Lo and behold, Katsuki Yuuri smiles!”

A really fun (not-so) secret identity fic. Yuuri takes good notes, leads a study group, and then Victor crashes it and things get Extra.
Marianne’s phone chimes when she gets the email. She looks over the notes he sent her: they’re very detailed, complete with links to references and blockquotes from primary sources, put together in ways that make memorable connections between the lectures and the reading. “These are amazing! Thank you!” she emails back.
After class, “Thanks again for the notes,” Marianne says to Yuuri. “They’re really helpful. Are you still taking them? I didn’t see you typing.” Yuuri wouldn't be the first grad student to take incredibly detailed notes for the first couple of weeks and then slack off for the rest of the semester.
“I record the lectures,” Yuuri tells her, gesturing with his phone. “And then I listen again later and take notes on that and the reading, both. That’s how I study best.” He has an accent that comes and goes, lilting some words and phrases while others sound authentically slurred and American.

Sheev can’t—he had plans. It makes no sense. Anakin can’t be dead… he’s the chosen one after all. “Are you entirely sure? I have received premature word of the demise of Jedi in the past. Master Shaak Ti, Anakin’s own master, comes to mind, I do believe. And there was the time Master Kenobi was captured and believed dead. It’s not unreasonable to think a similar situation might have occurred. We shouldn’t so easily believe him dead and so soon…”
Oh Sith-burned soil, Sheev is hysterical. A Sith doesn’t do hysterical. A Sith lord slays.

A couple of days later, Sheev is working on a eulogy for his lost apprentice when the door to his office opens. “I thought that I said I wasn’t to be disturbed!” He snaps, glancing up.
He freezes, quickly pulling out incredibly happy face #1. His mouth tilts up into a warm smile. “My dear boy, they told me you had died! I’m so glad to see that they were wrong.”
Anakin Skywalker is there in the doorway, looking like he just spent the last couple weeks at a spa resort rather than a war zone. His golden-brown hair hangs in soft waves about his face and his maroon robes are wrinkle-free, unlike those of many Jedi who apparently have never been introduced to a little something called an iron.

“Like it? Kelrec, this tastes amazing. And I don’t have that many taste buds left.” He nodded, accepting her praise.
“I am actually quite curious as to how you experience taste. Tea is of course not just the flavor - it's a moment to enjoy a warm cup. But it helps if it tastes good too.” She took another sip and nodded.
“Kelrec, this tastes like spring.”

The mess hall doors swished open. Tuvok walked in and moved toward the buffet line. Harry hurried over, hoping Tom and B’Elanna were teasing him and Tuvok would settle this with some Vulcan clarity.
“Tuvok,” Harry said. “What would it mean if I said the words ‘bad ensign’ to you?”
If a Vulcan could look horrified, Tuvok would have. “Ensign Kim,” he said. “That is an inappropriate reference and unbecoming an officer. You are no longer a cadet and should not behave as such.”
Tom called out from the table, “Tuvok, he really doesn’t know!”
Tuvok raised an eyebrow, turned, and, with another swish of the doors, left the mess hall. His appetite evidently was no longer worth the discussion he had somehow joined.

He had more energy and concentration; he was more cheerful; and his hands were steadier. He was – by any definition of the word – better. Was this what it was like, to be from the Federation? He pondered this, one evening, in the bar, watching from a distance the senior staff. Did they all walk round with this sense of clarity and focus and overall wellbeing? Garak had turned that thought over a few times before setting it deliberately to one side.

85711276Spot-on perfect Jett Reno voice as she press-gangs Caleb into repairing an unrepairable shuttle. Told from Caleb’s POV as he has a terrible, horrible, no-good very-bad day.
Also, in case I forget, the origin of “no shit, Surak.”
He sees the way she tries to care about what matters to him. And there’s no reason why finer details like the chain of command should mean anything to her. She’s still not really down with the whole Starfleet thing. For years, Caleb lived a life she would have recognized, while they were so profoundly separated that they might as well have been in different universes. Now they can talk whenever they want — and his world is so alien to her that he can’t even tell her about his day.

Kyle deliberately steers them down the slower side streets to make it easier, aiming for things Jay-Den might like—they even pass a Klingon restaurant, and Jay-Den tightly nods when Kyle suggests they come back for dinner. They spend a long time in a bookstore, surrounded by traditional paper-bound stories still published in the ancient style as opposed to shiny screens. Jay-Den runs his long fingers down a withered spine, flips through brittle yellowed pages, and mutters, “How... tactile.” At Kyle’s encouraging smile, he adds, “A strangely gratifying experience.”

That was several months ago, admittedly, but then Heaven and Hell have never had a particularly keen sense of the passage of time, not like those who live by human clocks on Earth. He seizes on the thought. "I, ah, came with Michael." He smiles. He hopes it looks more convincing than it feels. "But we appear to have got separated. If you could, perhaps, just point me to the exit?"
The demon snorts. "Michael? That colossal dweeb? Well, it figures. You've both got equally stupid faces."

Ben is almost amused. Not quite. It says a lot, that Owen’s going this far to try and make sure that… well, probably Luke, if the man’s putting in this much effort. It’s nothing new, that the Lars care for their nephew, but it warms his heart anyway.
“I’d be happy to have such a conversation with any who need it,” he says. “Though some may not be willing to listen or believe that the crazy old hermit was ever quite so free with his body as I was.”
Owen looks at him, suspicious. “You weren’t always a hermit. Everyone knows you came here with war scars. Nobody asks, but we all know you had another life fifteen years ago. Beru and I may be the only ones who know what you were, but everyone—”
“Owen,” Ben says, trying to be gentle, “I meant that I was an absolute slut, and none of them are going to believe I was ever good-looking enough to pull in quite the number of partners I had.”

Masculine Women, Feminine Men [Fanvid] by Tafadhali
29785647A video of 1920's and 30's film clips set to a banger of a song: "Masculine Women, Feminine Men." Second Chapter is an in-depth analysis of the cinema of the time, the song, citation of clips used, and acknowledgement that some of this is and was intended to be homophobic (in the 1930's? shocker.) But it's put together well and with such fun and love, that it's hard not to have fun watching it.
