Perhaps an Eridian kiss is the drumming of claws against another's body. Grace already does so absentmindedly, tapping on Rocky's carapace whenever they're in each other's arms. Maybe it is akin to Morse code. Maybe it is a whole language spoken through rhythmic taps, a million different ways to say, "I love you."

"Just to be absolutely clear," Grace says, bowling over whatever smug bullshit was about to come out of Ortiz's mouth, "I'm not going to be the other woman, and I'm not looking to sleep my way to tenure."
He's quite possibly still too drunk for this. Or maybe he's not drunk enough.
"I'm a grown man with a doctorate and I can make my own decisions," he tells Ortiz. "So, if you think I'm even considering it because I'm some—some sugar baby or—or you're looking for an easy lay because you're conveniently in another country, then you can take your napkin and room number shove them right up your ass."
It's not the most persuasive as far as warnings go. Grace stutters his way through it and he's moving his hands too much, but Ortiz at the very least doesn't try to interrupt him this time. He is smirking, however, the lift of it caught in the rim of his glass he takes a sip of his drink, eyes never leaving Grace's.
"Is that what you've been thinking about all these hours?" Ortiz asks him, conversational, like they're discussing bike lanes and Copenhagen's public transit system. "My ass?"
A week at the UNESCO conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Grace comes to terms with the fact that he's probably an interstellar homewrecker. Rocky finishes building his "tools."
"So, I'm back in the lab, trying once again to focus on literally anything but the mysterious clinking emanating from Rocky's side of the ship. I still don't know for certain what he's been making, and he's been cagy whenever I try to needle him for information, but I can still make informed guesses. I try to let the scientist in me take the wheel whenever I think about it, though, or I'm liable to have a heart attack. My running theory is some kind of... phallus. To be put into me. There were a couple days earlier this week during our 'activities' where Rocky would fixate on my lower stomach and pelvis area, tapping away down there. And if his goal is to listen more closely to me without having to cut me open and get in my guts, that's about the best option he has."

It would be madness to actually try to eat Grace. Everyone on the planet would be able to legally challenge you to an honour-duel at once, even if you took away the logistics of entering his oxygen atmosphere.
But.
The soft, wet sounds of his organs were enticing, a constant pumping thrum held in his veins and lymphatics. He struggled to breathe with the goitre muffling his windpipe. He would tear open so easily. His radii and ulnae would crack open as he tried to defend himself, and Flood-Tide could take its time gouging the marrow out of every bone after two quick slashes to Grace's calcaneal tendons rendered him incapable of running.
Flood-Tide's claws tapped together involuntarily inside its suit, considering the meal Grace would make.

“I think they'd feel nicer against your damaged mucosal lining than your rock-hard claws! I could be… gentle.” My voice trails off. I must be out of my mind to be suggesting something like that, even if my intentions are pure. There’s no noble cause that warrants my being anywhere near his one-hole-does-it-all. Is there?
Or
After they finally got comfortable eating around each other, Grace feeds Rocky. That just might change their entire relationship.

The guy only sniffs and hitches his hands up on his hips, showing off a trimmer waist than his oversized rugby shirt suggested. “What’s your name again?”
“Rocky,” he offers, simple and easy. “You?”
“Grace,” the guy says. “Or Mr. Grace, if you’re a seventh grader within twenty yards of me.”
“Just Grace?”
“Just Rocky?”
Rocky arches a brow and steps inside the copy room, which seems to charge up the air despite the preexisting smell of hot paper and toner. “Look, Mr. Grace,” he says, trying to keep his posture open and casual even though Grace is nearly a hand taller than him. “I didn’t mean to roll up like gangbusters on your copy room racketeering gig, I was just trying to learn the lay of the land and get my sheets prepped for the kids. But I’ll mosey on down to the math department and put my formal order in if need be.”
Grace rolls his jaw like he’s got a marble in his mouth, and now that they’re closer Rocky can make out the bright blue of his eyes and the gold in his lashes. Damn, he’s a good looking son of a bitch, if only he didn’t have a stick jammed so far up his pert little—

Summary
Grace had joked, occasionally, that they were a liquid and I was a solid, two completely different states of matter; it was a joke because it was an exaggeration, an overstatement. In reality, Grace had bones and teeth, and I had blood and steam, but we both enjoyed the pretense that we were more different than we were. It reminded us that our new friendship was something rare, something strange and special. Grace called themself a blob and called me a hunk of granite (a great insult that I was saving to use again on Erid), or they called themself a water balloon and called me a little mountain, or themself a puddle and me a pile of rocks: and they tilted at me, the human mouth tilt they called a smile, and that tilt always made me think again, lovingly, about the enormous odds against us ever having met.
Stone and water, water and stone. That comparison, even as a joke, never failed to ring a bell deep inside of me. Because I would think about erosion, about the long slow beat of water against rock, and I would think about how the rock was always, in the end, consumed.

Summary
Grace barely manages to save himself and Rocky from death. Between the extreme gravity forces he'd experienced, his chemically burned arm, and nearly stopping Rocky from saving himself, Grace decides the Taumoeba can wait. He decides to rest. At some point, Rocky decides to intervene.
In short: Grace starts using painkillers a little too much and Rocky gets very concerned. But Grace's new vocalization of his desire while a little drowsy has Rocky a bit less worried.
