Summary
Baelor Breakspear survives Ashford by an inch of bone, and Dunk rides to Summerhall with Egg as his squire. Dunk keeps waiting for Prince Maekar to remember he's supposed to hate him and throw him out. Any day now, surely. He'd stake his sword on it.
Little did he know, he'd lose his sword.
While Dunk anxiously awaits his dismissal, the rest of Summerhall; from a convalescing Baelor down to the stable boys; is watching Prince Maekar perform the least self-aware adoption in history, and running a betting pool on when Dunk will realise he's already family.
(Alternatively: the 7 times Dunk didn't realise he'd become a Maekarling, and +1 time he did.)

Walls were sunk deep into the living rock. Anti-aircraft batteries and autogun emplacements commanded every approach from above and below.
But the castellum at the mountain’s crown, the curled fist of steel and stone raised against the rage of the Ruinstorm, was Polux’s design and shame alone.

Baelor comes out of coma with an ability to read minds! It seems like an exciting advantage at first, but such a power would be hard to manage even if the subject of his interest didn't have a special ability of his own. Baelor's family is as unhelpful as ever, and Dunk is in over his head with both the ghost business and his suitors.

Out of all the almost neglible amount of irresponsible things Maekar Targaryen has done in his life, driving this stranger back to his second house is probably the worst offender.
Most likely the fault belonged to him, going to the cheapest bar he's ever seen instead of the one he usually frequents. Then a handsome man had bumped into him, spilled his drink on him, and had apologised multiple times before buying him another drink. The man had muttered something about how he was behaving like his students, Maekar had muttered something about his own children, and they had a very pleasant conversation that lasted a total of five minutes before he went back to his own table.

Or, Maekar gets railed by Duncan because he deserves it.

He knew he was supposed to say something back, to acknowledge the question, but when he turned and looked up, the colour of Mabbon’s eyes punched the air right out of his lungs. For a heartbeat, everything else fell away.
He opened his mouth to speak, to ask Mabbon why he’d never mentioned his eyes were the exact blue of a Tanith autumn sky. What came out was only a low, rough sound, nothing like a word.
