Summary
Sammy grows in silence. She’s fifteen and her jaw is a little too sharp, her nose is a little too straight, her legs are a little too long. She’s all angles and no give, it should bother her, Dean thinks, because he’s heard High School girls cry themselves to sleep about their lack of breasts and the jut of their hips, but Sammy grows and doesn’t say a thing. She’s grown quiet ever since Dad has caught her trying to swipe nail polish at a gas station while they were still in Odessa. Sammy doesn’t steal, and she doesn’t wear nail polish and the fact that she’d never gotten the chance to even try to does leave a bitter taste on Dean’s tongue.
