“Insane playoff run for you two, Walter Cup next year, yes?” Ilya said as he reached out to shake her hand. Sam smiled and Ilya was immediately struck by the dimples that suddenly framed her face.
“Oh man, we fucking better. Thanks, and thanks for letting me join the coaching team,” she replied.
Ilya laughed. “Ah, yes, you’re welcome, was very hard decision whether to bring on the best defensive player in the league.”
Sam blushed, coloring her cheeks just above those fucking dimples. She was tall, just a few inches shorter than Ilya, with light brown, straight hair down to her shoulders. She had tied it back in a low ponytail, but a few strands escaped in front, held in place by her backwards cap. She wore a loose fit dark green tank top and long grey shorts that sat low on her wide hips. Ilya’s eyes flicked down momentarily before he caught himself.
“You must meet my husband, famous hockey player Shane Hollander!” He looked out over the yard and saw Shane seated in an Adirondack chair talking to Hayden. “SHANE! Come, welcome our newest coach!”

Summary
“Ilya,” Shane says warningly, but he’s too late as the grin unfurls across Ilya’s face. “I said no laughing,” he snaps, glaring at him. “You’re laughing.”
Ilya shakes his head. “Is not at you, sweetheart,” he says, unable and unwilling to stop his beaming. “I am just—happy. To share this with you.” He meets Shane’s eyes. “You are—singularity,” he says, careful with his pronunciation. “My favorite.”
Shane goes red so fast, Ilya worries about his heart for a second.
“I just want to know you,” Shane murmurs, closing his eyes when Ilya lifts his hand up and strokes through his hair. “I miss you when you aren't around, and I want to carry the little bits of you I can.”
OR: Shane has some questions. Ilya always seems to have an answer. (And one time, Ilya has a question, too.)
