Simon let go of the blackbox and raised his arm towards the side of her face. When he missed, he started to panic, thinking that his hand went through her. He started to think that she wasn't real and that everything was just a hallucination but then, something warm grabbed ahold of his shaking hand and guided it towards her cheek.
"...Real?"
The hand squeezed his, letting him press harder onto the soft skin. "Yes, Simon. This is real. Now, do me a favor and keep your eyes open."

Summary
There is no support group for coming back from the dead and facing your past. This is a story about living past your life expectancy and how one man deals with it, with a little help from his friends.
This is a very classic take on the crossover - Grace saves Simon after Grace and Rocky save the stars and they continue on their way to Erid while teaching Simon everything he has missed out on and untangling the mystery of how and why he ended up in this timeline and galaxy. It's overall more focused on Simon (Sorry PHM-centered fans, Iron Lung is my original love), but explores Grace's loneliness and problems with people since being forced into space. There will be a lot of character moments, elaboration on who I think Simon is as a character and what he could have become, and fully self-indulgent moments for me and me alone (lmao.) There will be eventual feelings, but I am taking things glacier speed because this is a demisexual/aceflux Grace interpretation. Honestly, I agonized so hard on committing to aroace Grace and unrequited affection from Simon. . . but again, self indulgent for me. A separate aroace Grace/PHM-only fic will be on the horizon in that case.

Simon doesn't think he'll make it, he survived and fought and killed and begged and on and on and on for 13 years. He won't make it this time, there is nothing he can do anymore. And maybe he can convince himself he's fine with that.
But Grace has learned he can't leave a problem unsolved, and Rocky has developed some intense emotions towards loneliness. So Simon's just gonna have to learn to live again :)

“Grace! Simon! Rocky find something, statement!” Rocky said, stopping right when he was about half way to each of the men, moving his body around like a little dance. “Something important, statement!”
“Must be, you’re so excited” Simon chuckled, leaning into his hand while he supported his arm on the table. “What’s up, Rocky? What did you find?”
“Rocky follow signal from Erid five weeks ago” Rocky began, and Grace slowly moved closer to him and Simon, stopping by the couch and leaning against the back. “Signal similar to signal Simon emit. Rocky confused. Rocky arrive closer, more signals appear. Rocky and crew find pieces of metal, Rocky and crew collect. Crew analyze, find out metal was computer memory. Archive name Eden!”

When Rocky finds a bunch of files concerning Eden and the COI floating in space, he compiles everything so that Simon and Grace can look it over.
What they find, however, makes Grace question humanity as a whole.

“No, Tim, I’ve never felt the urge to jump out of a plane,” Jon turned back to his notes - neatly handwritten and detailed - on the next few chapters, while, almost offhandedly, adding, “I was pushed out of one, once, but fortunately it wasn’t very high up at the time.
“So, I’ve been thinking about the magic system in this world…”
Sasha was the one who got in first, this time, after their shared miniature WTF? moment.
“Forget the magic system, Jon, what the hell do you mean you were pushed out of a plane?”
“What, like, on purpose?” Martin stared at him, with what, in retrospect, was an extremely rude intensity, while Jon’s shoulders stiffened with clear regret at speaking without thinking; then settled slowly into ‘resigned’.
“It was a … rather strange time in my life. Now, the biggest flaw with the magic system …”

“...Yeah.” Jon forced his voice to sound at least a little light.
“But you know, it was…” Martin added, quickly. “It was really good to see you.”
He reached out as he said that. It was a small movement, not even a sudden one - it looked like he simply wanted to rest his hand on Jon’s shoulder for a moment.

Tim says the words more to his lap than to him. And yes, Jon suspected that if Tim knew the Circus had him, he would’ve looked. But it wouldn’t have been for him. His presence would only be incidental. Tim’s staring at his arm as if the power of his gaze could knit it back together right and whole. His hand remains in place, and Jon wonders if it’s more for Tim than him. It’s as if he has to be reminded that Jon’s real, that he’s here.
Tim finds out that Jon was kidnapped by the Circus.
