Jason should have left. Should have just aborted the mission and come back another time when Tim wasn't around. That was the smart play. The tactical play. But curiosity was a bitch, and Jason found himself moving toward the sound instead of away from it. He peered around the doorframe and saw Tim in his office, pacing like a caged animal with at least five empty coffee cups scattered across his desk. The kid looked like he hadn't slept in a week. Maybe longer.

“Why Plastic Man?” Hal asked.
“He’s on monitor duty right now,” the Bat didn’t even sound out of breath. He was typing something out on some sort of communicator device he had pulled from his belt. It looked like a phone, but a bit bulkier. He put a hand to his comm and switched it on, so the three heroes with him heard both his actual voice and the echo of it in their ears. Though Batman was clearly trying to reach Clark, Diana, and Barry, it threw Hal off balance for a second.
“The intruder is not dangerous. Do not engage.”
Hal was just disoriented enough that he kept running, spurred on by the fact that, despite his message, Batman was still sprinting down the halls. The three of them reached the medbay, and Batman came to an abrupt halt, the other three skidding to a stop beside him. Standing there, covered in blood, was Nightwing.

The Bats gather on the Watchtower. Tensions are high. The JL just wants to know what the hell is going on.

Summary
Bruce should have been prepared for the hit. He was one of the few people in the world who knew that Dick’s cheerfulness came hand in hand with a devastating temper, which the boy had spent years trying to regulate. After days in space, standing trial in front of a bunch of corrupt, egocentric judges who reminded him just enough of Gotham to set him off-kilter, and then immediate, world-ending danger as soon as they arrived back on earth, he had expected the conflict to be over.
It wasn’t, of course. Wally West was dead.

A tiny snippet into the season two aftermath. Dick isn't exactly known for handling the death of loved ones well. I wonder where he gets that from?

Sometimes Jason wondered if he fixated on Dick's rage just to make his own look better.
But they weren't the same. Sure, Jason got angry-maybe he always would be after crawling out of his own grave. But Dick's anger was something more dangerous, it was violence bottled up with the lid screwed on so tight that it had nowhere to go.
And this bleeding, bruised idiot pinned against the pillar had no idea what he had even done. Because in a split second, the thug's arrogant smirk vanished, his face dropping in sheer terror as Nightwing was the one to lunge for him.

Jason blinks, glancing at Dick, who was humming happily, looking around. He must have misheard. “Hey, replacement. Are you sure?”
“What do you mean if I am sure?” Tim said incredulously. “We need the suspect alive.”
“Yeah, that’s why I am asking.” Jason huffs a laugh, oh this was serious. “Did you talk this over with B?”
"There is no need to go over this with Bruce." Tim answers, annoyed. "It's just an interrogation."
"Uh huh, and you picked Dick as the good cop." Jason replies, enjoying every second of the conversation.
“Stop being weird, Todd.” Damian quickly replies through the comms. “Who else should be the good cop?”
Jason nods once, slowly grinning, maybe today wasn’t going to be that bad of a day.

Or Jason realizes that everyone still labels him and Dick incorrectly. Like sure he is the “bad boy” in the Golden boy and Troublemaker duo, but that doesn’t mean Dick should ever be the good cop.
But hey, who was he to correct the misunderstanding and miss the entertainment? Batman? Please.
Everyone should have known better than assumed.

"Huh, so I guess it kind of comes in phases? He relents and then gets strict again?" Duke muses.
Dick and Jason have wrapped up by now. Dick makes his way over to the bench where Duke is sitting and grabs a towel and water bottle. "What do you mean?" Dick asks after taking a swig of water.
"I mean, you were in Blüdhaven a few years ago, right? And those reports were completely sparse. And then the ones from more recently have more detail again," Duke clarifies.
Dick freezes. It's minuscule, doesn't even last a second before his body language relaxes again, but Duke notices. He really is getting better at this whole vigilante-detective thing.

An innocent question leaves Dick spiraling and the rest of the family grappling as they discover more about the Golden Child.

He loved when Wylan wore a necktie—went absolutely weak when he restrained Jesper’s wrists with it. He liked to watch Wylan walk across the Council floor in his dramatized suit, loved seeing his thighs ripple the fabric as he moved, loved letting his eyes fall on his waist and the perfectly tailored way his blazer cinched him. It all drove him absolutely wild.
