It had been a little over two months since Megumi and Tsumiki had moved in with him—a little over two months of them taking packed lunches to school, and being read bedtime stories, and being enrolled in extracurriculars for the first time in their lives. They were well-fed, well-rested, and well-dressed, and Satoru was so pleased… even if he was no longer any of those things himself.
It had been as easy as breathing to bring them into his life, to consider them his own flesh and blood, to love them as his own children; yet somehow it was simultaneously the hardest thing Satoru had ever done.

He follows suit, letting go of Simon in a sharp and jerky movement to right himself. His palms tingle even after he's shoved them into his pockets. It crawls up his wrists and down his spine, forcing him to clench his jaw to suppress a shudder.
“Sorry.” They say in unison.
“Right no, it's fine,” Grace jumps, staring at his shoes in embarrassment. “They can be pushy.”
TLDR: Grace's reluctant, but intense acceptance of Simon into his life. It snowballs from there.
