"It's not like it's our first time being stranded in the wilderness together," he says cheerfully, barely a hint of a stutter as he casually grabs for Chu Shuzhi's hand and pulls him along. "I think I see a cave up that way, come on!"
Words failing him, Chu Shuzhi allows himself to be dragged. He pokes at his phone with his free hand, not expecting much, and sure enough there's no signal. Great. Just what they need with a highly volatile, starving ghost on the loose and the rest of the SID safely back at 9 University Ave. This was supposed to have been a simple exorcism, simple enough that Chu Shuzhi could have done it on his own. He'd been asked to choose a partner anyway, because buddy system, which he grudgingly admits is not the worst idea, and, well. He's gotten so used to having the kid around.
He should have picked the damn cat.

"No." Dave's voice was trembling, goddammit! Snake had to keep his cool while watching not-Otacon melt and slowly get formed back into a different edition of the same idea, it was kinda hard with how sick the whole liquid flesh stuff had made him. "No... you're clearly... not."

They lapsed into silence. Once, several months and numerous missions ago, it would've perturbed Hal to sit here in the quiet.
But eventually it clicked. Silence from Dave did not equate a lack of interest, or anger, or annoyance. It instead indicated a sort of comfort, an ease of being. Allowing himself to simply exist, to share the same space as Hal.When Hal gets too cold, Dave's there to help warm him up.

Hal presses even closer into him. “I’m cold.”
“Hmm, I noticed,” David says while turning around, unfortunately breaking their hug in the process. He could barely make out Hal’s face in the darkness of their bedroom. “You’ve been using me as a personal heating pad.” David needs him to consider wearing socks to bed. Maybe that will help his circulation.
“You don’t mind, right?” Hal asks, and his fingers are already back at his sides again.Or, Hal can’t deal with the coldness of Alaskan nights and needs his partner’s body heat to stay warm. David is more than fine with that arrangement. The following day seems to be nice, too.

Fifteen years after the conclusion of a bloody human-faunus conflict that turned into a war between the living and the undead, Clover Ebi and his team are sent into Vale to help take down a steady stream of vampires that seem to be filling Vale’s forests. Upon arrival, the team discovers that most leeches seem to be starving, except for one very old, very powerful vampire whose eyes never darken past a pale pink.
Only problem is, that vampire has decided that Clover is…interesting.

Whenever Grace was feeling down, she liked to imagine all the different ‘R’ Commanders, Captains and Operatives as the same mythical “superhero” BSAA soldier. It felt nice to imagine (if only for a moment) that wherever a bioweapon would spring up there would be an immovable soldier to meet its unstoppable force, saving the day.

In some respects. Our lineages, our ghosts.” He pauses to consider, then looks at him in the dark and Snake wonders how much he can see. Average in a way he wishes he could trade for. “Just, sometimes, you worry me.”
He hates that, too. He looks away and drinks and listens to the yowl out there while the faces hang and blink phosphate in the treeline. Nothing moves.
“No need,” he eventually says. “Perfectly fine.”
