Summary
He feels like Steve’s mistress. He feels hollowed out. He feels like a jammed gun still trying to go off. When he’s not with Steve he convinces himself he’s ruining Steve’s life, and though he tries, he’s too selfish to stop. When he’s with Steve, he’d fight God himself to keep it, this tangible perfection that makes him drunk and anchors him in ways he did not know existed.
Or, the one where they both survived the war, Bucky loves Steve now, has loved Steve since he was fifteen, and the year is 1945.

Steve, it's not your fault, Sam had tried to say, before Steve cut him off, and Steve doesn't think that's untrue so much as it's irrelevant; fault's got nothing to do with it. It's just—wrong. It's wrong. Steve couldn't wrap his head around it the first time, how wrong it was. Steve should have gone first. Was supposed to. Bucky could have carried on without Steve, he knows, but Steve without Bucky is a zero sum. There should never be a world that Steve is in and Bucky isn't.

Loved reading, have to read again! Love pre/mid-war stories. Loved Steve's & Buckys relationship in this and the last couple of paragraphs at the end were a bit crushing when you know what happens next. Makes me glad to know that in 70 years time, they'll be reunited - even through brutal circumstances. This was a very well written story, I rushed it before work but will read again to give it the attention it deserves

Incredible writing and story, loved every minute. The POV changes were so well done and Bucky's is so haunting at times. Also loved Peggys POV and her memories of all of them during the war. One hot summer, when Bucky and Steve are fifteen, the line between their friendship and something new that Bucky can’t quite name blurs. It is only years later that the line disappears completely and Bucky can finally put a name to that something.

Fucking christ, this was a brutal read. Buckys poetry in-between scenes was beautiful and ruthless and raw af. The writing is so good, in love with this authors Steve/Bucky. "You only loved me in tragedy" - god, reaf af. This made me want to SHAKE STEVE. Poor Buckys heart, right up to the very last moment. The glee he feels in the last scene, so fuckin valid. Omg also Bucky basking in Steve's jealousy. Perfection

Summary
Superman and Batman go undercover with a couple's therapist to investigate a string of recent murders. It goes... okay.
“We’ve been working together for over six years and sleeping together for nearly five and a half. But we're not a couple. He’s made that very clear, so I'm at a loss for words on why he dragged me here since, y’know, we're not a couple.”
Clark shifts his whole body again. He hooks one foot under him, letting his boot get on this woman's thousand plus dollar couch and watches Bruce in profile. He hates how beautiful he is.
“It was a mistake, right, B? It’s unprofessional, right, B? It's not going to happen again, right, B? But then two days later you're down on your knees for me again in the locker room with all our coworkers just on the other side of the door and you're begging me to fuck you in your car when our shifts are done, and then you're calling me at three in the morning to rush over because you miss me and you need me and you can't wait. And then you're kicking me out at five because you want to sleep and you have never — not even once — stayed the night with me.”

Then, Clark’s eyes met his, and he pulled away so quickly that the sound of his retreat whipped through the air. His face, for a moment, was startlingly open, and naked grief cracked harshly through his expression like a fist shattering the surface of a frozen lake. Then, it was gone, and the slate was wiped clean as though there had been nothing but a mild smile there since the very beginning.
But Bruce knew what he’d seen.
“How long?” he asked.
Clark’s mouth twisted. “I don’t know why I thought I’d be able to keep it from you,” he said softly. “You know me too well. Was that even five minutes?”
“Clark.”
Clark’s lips turned up into a smile, fracturing his face, his eyes glittering shards of lapis lazuli. “How long for what?” he asked. “For how long we were married? Or for how long it’s been since you died?”

He froze like an idiot, only able to grip the door handle for support and breath in again, deeper this time, making him dizzy with it. Something in his chest tightened, and god, this was so fucked. Because through his blood running hot and southward, stirring desire in his stomach like he’d never felt before, he could register only two things: Mate, and Alpha. And wasn’t that a colossal fuck up. And this time, no one is eavesdropping on those sounds, because the one who used to listen is now the one making Bruce fall apart like this.
(Or, Clark thinks Batman has a very nice voice. It's been stuck in his head ever since he accidentally heard him during… sex. There's something about Bruce Wayne's voice that feels strangely familiar.)
