Rocky didn’t know how to describe it better. Its body – Grace’s body – was badly designed here and there. But all together? Surprisingly efficient. And scary, and disgusting. And Grace didn’t pay much attention to it because it was just like that all its life.
It was a past for its – h̴u̵m̶a̶n̵ – species when they used the advantages of their body for a hunt, the alien explained later, but for Rocky it was so obvious, that Grace was a deadly predator, it wasn’t even funny.___

Summary
Ryland Grace finally learned to whistle on the way to Erid. It took being forcibly shoved on a spaceship, and having to turn around to save his alien best friend (read only best friend) but he learned.
And Rocky couldn't be more excited to teach him some basics of a simple Eridian dialect. Does Grace know the dialect is primarily used by teenagers to simplify their words born out of laziness? No not really.

Mica handled a lot of unpredictable situations in their job as an emergency hatchling guardian. It came with the territory – there were all kinds of reasons a pebble too young to be alone might need watching by someone who wasn’t a cluster member. But Mica had never had a situation like the call they received from the space science cluster.
“Engineer Rocky is on that ship, apparently injured, and he’s brought back some kind of alien with him. It’s very young, only IIVI years old, it doesn’t have any of its own kind, but it learned some Eridian from Engineer Rocky. Can you come and watch it while Engineer Rocky recovers and we work out what it needs?”
or, Grace gets babysat by an Eridian.

Grace's brows furrowed as he contemplated.
"In here? To the wall—about six meters. But outside, or looking out into space? I can see things that are kilometers away. If it's a star, I can see it from light-years away."
All three Eridians clicked in surprise, the third Eridian—Grace nicknamed them 'Mendel'—wobbling on their stool in surprise.
"Light-years?!" Rocky chirped, melody rising. "You lie! Explain!"
