Summary
Some stories are born beneath stained glass, in the hushed ribs of churches where light falls pink and blue and tender on the worn wooden pews. Some stories wake up in a yellow Chevrolet on a highway that will never end, eternity unfurling as far as the eye can see.
Some stories, such as this one, begin with two boys in a graveyard. It begins with two boys made of clay, grown fragile under a dull sun that asks too much of fragile things. It begins, as certain stories must, with a secret, sagging on drawn wire like a slaughtered pig, drawing a nosy bloodhound behind it.
Some stories, one will learn, are tucked away in the pages of a diary for a reason.

I chew up then spit out LMK Macaque into the actual JTTW world. Not back in time before Wukong killed him but in the actual novel (sorta). Won’t be entirely accurate to JTTW but I wanted a fic where the LMK characters interact with their JTTW counterparts for a long time now.

The mercenary wasn’t someone to wear his heart on his sleeves, and even at the height of their partnership, Dream had rarely known what the other was thinking.
The crease of his brow was wrinkled slightly, but there was almost nothing readable. An impenetrable wall that Dream himself could not crack. That he couldn’t read. Dream had never been able to hold the same emotionless resolve, he’d needed a physical mask for that.
Maybe Punz had always been colder than him.
Maybe the mercenary had achieved what Dream had long since failed to. No attachments, no cares. Nothing.
