Summary
A primal was summoned with an immense amount of chroma and could temper anyone close by. It was like a magical parasite, worming its way into one’s mind until anyone would turn into its thrall, serving it unapologetically. He had read recovered letters of how friends had turned against friends, parents had killed their children, and throats had been cut by their own bodies.
The worst part was that they couldn’t even leave the primal alone.
Lumière was running out of supplies and they had to make the continent livable.
And that just so included slaying an immortal primal that could temper them if they dared to get too close.
God, Gustave needed a drink.

It's an indication that Alicia has painted over him repeatedly, enough that his chroma is becoming corrupted by how often it's happening.
When Gustave comes to him demanding answers, demanding to know what is going on... Verso can't deny him.

Summary
Against all odds, Lumiere survived.
Maelle did her very best to restore the city and repaint everyone that she could reach - and then she left. Now the city stands, promising a future; tomorrow has finally come and Gustave... has no idea what to do with it.
For the first time in generations people have started looking towards the Continent not as expeditioners, but as settlers. There is just one problem: Nevrons still exist. If they are to ask Maelle to paint a bridge between the continent and Lumiere when she next visits, they need settlements on both its ends, under a shield dome.
But the original plans for the dome's construction have been lost and, unfortunately for Gustave, the one who might be able to help is one Verso Dessendre - the man who let him die... and the one who might just show him what tomorrow's for. But while Gustave slowly rediscovers the man all call a traitor, Verso struggles to confront the terrifying possibility that there might still be things in this world worth living for.

Summary
After Verso loses his family to a house fire, he takes up a position as lightkeeper in an attempt to flee from both his grief and the prying eyes of Parisian high society.
Lumière is as sleepy as little towns come, and its folk are as kind and curious as one would expect. The lighthouse itself sits just out of town, on a little cliff jutting out from the coast of Bretagne. It’s an old place in a state of obvious disrepair, but thankfully the town’s engineer Gustave is as capable as he is handsome.
The perfect place for Verso, even though the sea starts whispering to him in his family’s voices at night. Grief can do that to a man, he thinks.
But when Gustave warns him not to listen to those that call for him in the darkness with a haunted look in his eyes, Verso realizes there is more at play in Lumière, and that his peaceful lightkeeper escape might turn out not to be so peaceful after all.

Summary
Everyone is born with a soulmate, and over the course of their lives together - they share scars. A scar one person receives shows on their soulmate, in addition to pain, and wounds they each receive.
Verso has no scars, save the one on his eye that he keeps in place. All of the ones that he gets, fade away soon enough and heal thanks to the Paintress' magic.
Gustave has scars that cover his entire body, from his face to his toes, not a single inch of him has been untouched from the pain and scarring that his soulmate has received.

Summary
What if, in a pivotal moment, Verso had made a different decision? What if Renoir had not bothered to ensure Gustave was actually dead and had just left after making his point to Maelle? What if Expedition 33 had left the Stone Wave Cliffs before a certain handsome, brooding stranger could reveal himself?
Verso, after dragging a half-dead Gustave away from the cliff that would have been his eternal resting place in another life, now has to deal with the consequences of his actions.
Gustave, heavily injured and stranded in Nevron-infested lands without the support of his friends, needs to learn how to trust and rely on a stranger who looks suspiciously similar to the man who attempted to kill him. -

Tell her.” This was not the proud, charming brother Maelle had described, but a man haunted by a century of grief, of loss beyond imagination, of a lifetime spent as a ghost of a son so beloved his makers had dared Paint him anew. The mask lay below, in the rolling waters, shed only for whatever reason in the company of a stranger.
A man who would readily give the world entire to heal his fractured family.

Maelle, having banished her parents from the Canvas and chosen to remain (at Verso's behest), can finally bring back all the people she's lost - starting with Gustave. Death, however, isn't easily returned from, and neither can the upheaval of loss be undone upon those who have suffered it . . .
Gustave, Verso, Lune, and Sciel fight to save Maelle from the fate she's chosen and win the Canvas the peace of a new beginning, free from the cycle of grief that has ensnared it for so very long.

Summary
The New Lumière's peace is disrupted, the citizens brought to a shock at the news of one of their beloved expeditioners being killed in her own home by a stranger nobody can put a name to.
But the expedition knows, of course. They're the only ones to, and the only ones to know what Maelle's departure from the Canvas truly means. And so they have to take a risk, make an attempt to call out to the Painters themselves for the chance of convincing them to let the Canvas stand despite her absence.
Now back home, Alicia has to face the reality it has crumbled into. The state of her family, the conflict that keeps pounding on their door, all while pretending her return was willing so the Canvas gets to stand as long as she can convince her father to.

Summary
Verso lived through the fire, as did Alicia, but he didn't wake up. He remained unconscious, and when his family realised that he and Alicia had been found in the atelier during the fire, they realised that Verso has gone into the canvas.
Aline went in after him, believing she could wake him up. She finds Verso, who doesn't remember anything. In his pain addled mind he ended up creating Lumiere, and a painted version of his family, and they were living together happily. Aline helps him remember, but all he could feel was the fire and the burning agony of his body, and so she paints over him and erases his memories again to keep him safe. Renoir then goes in to wake up his son himself, and drag his wife out the canvas, resulting in the Fracture. Expedition Zero goes out to search for their loved ones and rescue them, and inevitably find out what happened from Cleo. Now Verso has to stop his family from tearing apart his canvas, and try keep his mother from constantly erasing his memories to keep him compliant. It goes about as well as you might expect.
(Basically, Verso lived, but is trapped in the canvas by his mother, and now has to deal with the horror of having his family raging war inside his canvas)
