    Summary

The annual SafeCity™ Poll from the Daily Planet asks viewers to vote for the safest city in the United States from the thirty most populous cities. Central City has won for the three years since the poll’s creation, despite it not being the safest based on crime rate statistics. Previous studies have suggested that superheroes influence city safety and shift public perceptions, which could explain why Central City and other hero-cities ranked so high. However, these studies focus on individual cities and have differing conclusions, creating controversy in the community. Here, we investigate eight superhero cities to understand why people perceive Central City as the safest by evaluating the role of superheroes on city safety. We use statistical data to analyze how superheroes influence crime rate and how those changes impact population growth. Our results are twofold: superheroes increase city safety, and Opal City, not Central, is the safest city. This suggests that multiple influences impact the SafeCity™ Poll rankings, including superhero popularity, public perception, and outside meddling, which warrants further study.

    Creator(s): Talis, Jayce, 959-991; Viktor, 957-991

Abstract: Jayce Talis was the founder of Hextech, a short-lived proprietary technology that was a revolutionary blend of science and magic. He, along with his now-named partner, Viktor, created the Hexgates, the now-defunct rapid transit that put Piltover on the map. Talis was an inventor during the fraught period of time when tensions between Piltover and the Undercity (as Zaun was called then), began to boil over, leading to a brief stint as a Councilor, where he attempted to keep the Hexgates and Piltover safe. Encompassing his time during those years which included the Council Bombing, and culminated into the Battle of Piltover, the Jayce Talis papers (inclusive dates: 959-995, bulk dates: 980-991) include materials related to his early childhood and personal interests, the founding of Hextech and unreleased inventions, the Hexgates, a deeper look into his previously unknown partner's life, and what the world thought of him, both during and after his presumed death after the Battle of Piltover.

Huck quite enjoys the feeling of importance he gets from his various jobs in the commune. No, he isn't a leader, but he is important to The Herald, and Huck feels as though his life is worth something.

Now if Salo could stop complaining about The Defender, that would be nice.

    "Cursed?" His therapist repeated.

No one's really been okay since the invasion ended. Artemis is back on the Team and back to school in Central City, M'gann and Connor are helping the Team stay afloat, Roy's quit the business to take care of Lian, and Dick has retreated back to Blüdhaven.

With all this, everyone can't help but notice how Kaldur's reacting to the last year of trauma, and to it finally being over.

Or, in better words, how he's not reacting.

(This is a story told through communications logs, security camera transcripts, and letters home that were never sent. It is a story about recovery and redemption, about heroes and what it really means to have sacrificed everything to save the world.)
