Dean’s sitting at the kitchen table with Sam when his phone rings. Jody’s name flashes across the screen and he considers not picking up. It’s not like Dean doesn’t want to talk to Jody, it's just that he can’t bear talking to anyone these days.
“Hi, Jody,” Sam says.
“Howdy, boys.” She asks them to take over a case. Something about werewolves. Dean doubts they will, Sam hasn’t let him pick up a gun in months, not since their last hunt.
Jody’s voice cuts through the phone. “Alright, if you boys don’t wanna take the case, I’ll see if Castiel will, but I think he’s helping Claire in Colorado–”
Dean doesn’t hear a damn thing after that, and by the looks of it, Sam doesn’t either. For the first time in days, Dean opens his mouth and speaks. “Cas is alive?”
Jody’s voice is quiet on the other end. “He didn’t tell you?”

Summary
A piece of Nidhogg still remains inside Estinien, and every once in a while it deigns to speak to him. The first time he meets G'raha Tia, the wyrm declares the man is far more than he seems. Suspicious, Estinien investigates further, and what he learns dismays him. G'raha has proven he will deceive, betray, and endanger his friends if he deems it 'for the greater good', yet for some reason the rest of the Scions seem to trust him implicitly.
If they won't protect themselves from a threat, Estinien is determined to do it for them. But it turns out he and G'raha have something in common that he would never have expected, and Nidhogg isn't done interfering with their relationship yet. Mayhap the man isn't all bad.

A chase ends with Vash and Wolfwood stuck in a hot, stuffy box. Hours of boredom, bad choices, and more-or-less accidental touches follow.

Summary
Vash catches up to him on the stairs without a word. Wolfwood ignores him until he’s able to get his door open—at which point he spares a glance, tries not to stare for too long, ignores how the roof of his mouth dries out when he meets Vash’s bright green eyes.
Wolfwood has never been able to suss him out, Vash. Do Plants even present in the same way? Not that it would matter—Wolfwood would never, not with Vash—but still… The thought crosses his mind.
“Don’t cause any trouble,” Wolfwood croaks.
“I’ll try,” Vash returns, “but Wolfwood—”
“See you in a week, Tongari.” Wolfwood pushes his cross in first, then throws himself after, slamming the door shut with perhaps more force than necessary. His fingers slide over the lock while he secures it, and then the dead bolt. Just can’t be too careful.
Tragically, he can still smell Vash outside the door. This fresh, slightly salty scent—woodsy and natural, something Wolfwood’s never smelled before.
