Summary
They’ve been fighting monsters together for three years and counting now and they’ve never once said it. It’s floated in the air between them like spores from another dimension, echoes of Eddie coating their conversations like snow falling in December, hanging around to the point where it’s become the greatest, most well-known background actor in their lives, but Steve’s done taking chances now.

Summary
Maybe that’s why he looks for her in the sky. Maybe, because if anything, picturing her up there, exploring galaxies, discovering the universe, is better than any alternative. She’s far away from here, skipping around the cheese holes and rocks, waving. She’s always saying hello.
Never goodbye.

Summary
December rolls around, as it usually does every year, and Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler are still laid up in Hawkins Memorial Hospital, as they will be for a while—or so Nancy's been told. So it's up to her to look after Holly and Mike, if they'll let her, and deal with the doctors to sort out recovery plans, if they'll listen to her, and clean the house up from that total wreck of a night over a month and a half ago when the world almost ended. And also maybe kind of try to make Christmas feel like anything resembling the stretched out shape of a holiday at all.
Nancy has a lot on her plate. Probably could use something to take her mind off it all.
And Steve's been Christmas shopping anyway, so he may as well look around. Just in case.

Summary
He’s on the side of the interstate in the warm woven center of night, and Scully is not in his passenger seat. He’s thinking about a research paper he wrote as an undergraduate about suicide methods.
a small weird cancer arc thing about the space between elegy and demons, because it haunts me that those episodes are back to back. lobotomies, psychotic breaks, Vonnegut, best friends. and berries

Summary
Maybe Steve’s always been good at lying, or maybe this is what truth tastes like now. Maybe he does hate his old house, like he hates all his old selves, and maybe that is how he loves Hawkins: a place that tore him, like a bad tooth, out of the life he thought he knew.
Dropped him, free-falling, into a new one.
Good ache. It’s a good ache. You can see for miles if you know where to stand.
[Steve, after everything, doesn’t quite know where to start. And then there’s Nancy.]
