The form flickers, letting curls of smoke form something like a smile, and responds, “What is it you want, patriarch?”
And Wei Wuxian, incautious at the wrong (the right) moment, says “A way to fix all of it.”
He hears the reply: “As you wish.”
He knows he’s made a mistake the second the form disperses, moving too fast and in too many directions to be called back and subdued.

“Okay,” Eddie finally says, unfolding himself and turning to sit, cross-legged, right in front of Steve. He takes a deep, steadying breath. “Before I even begin to unpack everything you just said… Let’s rewind, ‘cos I’m still confused as fuck, Stevie. You literally asked me about how dating a guy was different from a girl. You wanted to know. Then I made that dumb research joke, and you went along with it. But before that, you were serious. You were seriously asking. Right?”
Steve gives him a small nod, swallowing. “Right.”
“Why?”
Steve bites his lip, blushing as he looks down at his hands folded in his lap.
“Because… Because I was hoping you'd answer the question. But then you just flirted with me and offered to go out with me…”
“Hang on, hang on,” Eddie interrupts him, “Back up a second, I did what? ”
Steve’s eyes widen as he jerks up his head. “Are… Are you serious right now? You said, maybe you should get a guy to ask you out. With you literally being the only gay guy I know. How was I supposed to interpret that?”

Summary
While helping with packing and moving Eddie's stuff to the Munsons' new trailer, Steve and Robin accidentally come across some of Eddie's very private magazines. They decide to hide them at Robin's place until Eddie comes home, and that should be the end of it.
So Eddie's queer. It's not a big deal, because so is Robin. Except Steve can't stop thinking about it, and about their interactions in the Upside Down, and about how nice it feels whenever Eddie looks or smiles at him.
It might be just the flattery of it all, somebody finally being interested in him after a while, that's getting to him. Or is it? Would he feel the same way about any guy? And what should he even do about it?
Steve goes through a complex week of introspection; thankfully, not without his platonic soulmate by his side always ready to talk. And in the end, it doesn't matter if he still has doubts or unanswered questions. One thing he knows for sure: there's something about Eddie that makes him want to just go for it.Written for Steddie Love Month day 22 prompt: battle vest
