When the lesbian next to him at the bar very kindly informs Shane that (other) women have been throwing themselves at him all evening, he's surprised. How was he supposed to know factual statements about the temperature of the room were meant to invite a proposition?!
Her solution? Studying romantic social cues and flirting techniques. The textbook? Romance novels.
Well, it can't hurt to try, and anything Shane tries, he tries thoroughly. Maybe a little too thoroughly? He didn't expect for his book reviews to pick up a following, and he DEFINITELY didn't expect to become the (secret, anonymous) face of "allyship" in the MLH.
He's not complaining, though. The books resonate with him more than he ever could have predicted, even if the hockey is unrealistic as shit, and maybe he'll learn a thing or two along the way. (About healthy relationships, communication, and emotional intelligence. Not any of the OTHER things you'll find in a hockey romance. Nope. Not at all...)

With four of the best current NHL players officially out as gay or bisexual, fans and critics alike have speculated on a possible link between homosexuality and hockey skill. Using points per game data and a comparison of gay and straight players’ statistics, this study reimagines a popular P/PG prediction model to measure a potential “queer effect.” While limited by its small sample size, it found evidence that suggests queer players may be more naturally skilled at hockey and discusses popular theories regarding why.

Summary
There's another baby photo trend going around social media, and since the last one went over so well, Harris wants the team to try it. It's the one where they put a statement about an adult over a picture of them as a baby, like a cherubic little baby Ilya captioned "THIS IS WHO PUNCHED A REFEREE." But this time, the Centaurs staff are getting in on the action, and Harris shows his own version to the team as an example.
When Shane sees little tiny Harris, he's struck literally speechless. He's been hanging out with Harris since before he was officially a Centaur. How did he never recognize that the team's social media manager was his favorite teammate from junior skills clinics? How did he not realize, with the benefit of hindsight and also knowing his sexuality, that Harris was his biggest childhood crush?
(No angst, no cheating, etc. It's all good times and fond memories here!)
Edit: This was written and posted before the casting announcement! I very much look forward to seeing what Justice Smith brings to the role but this fic's Harris is based on book descriptions/cover and is a fat white man.

Summary
The kyber crystal chooses the Jedi. Wielding a saber whose crystal didn't choose you will never be as easy as wielding your own. This means sabers a) have the capacity to like or dislike people and b) have the capacity to be obstinate little shits to people they dislike.
If a certain Jedi's saber really likes you, I'm not saying it means you're soulmates, but I'm not saying it DOESN'T mean you're soulmates, either.
Most works reference each other but stand alone fairly well, so reading previous isn't necessarily required, but I would recommend reading at least the first before Cards on the Table. To readers who want all the fluff and nothing else, skip that last one. Series is listed as complete but I may wander back someday should my muse desire.

Objectively, this used to be true. Nowadays Shane has many, many plans, between his nightly plans to look at Ilya’s penis through Skype and his various long-term plans laid out helpfully in his notebook, Canva (For Ilya’s sake. He is a visual learner), and more recently, Excel. Shane loves that excel sheet. He’s colour coded it.
In 2017, Shane Hollander spirals and proposes to his boyfriend of 4 days (or 7 years, or 9 years, or not his boyfriend at all, depending on how you look at it), which leads to a lot of plans, weird theories in the Montreal Voyageur locker room, some Twitter drama, and Ilya Rozanov entering his WAG era.
