Grace fidgets with his hands, stretching each knuckle and palming the free edge of each nail, to keep from throwing himself onto Rocky and howling like an animal.
(Because somewhere along the way, Rocky and Adrian's wish for kids had become Grace's own, too.)
OR: Rocky and Adrian's eggs keep dying long before they hatch, and no one knows why. Grace — who definitely doesn't see himself as a parent to those hatchlings, how stupid and impossible would that be?! — has the normal reaction, which is inventing gene therapy from scratch to help the next egg survive.

The Eridians band together and figure out Time Travel! They've come back in time to pick up their emotional support squishy space blob!
And also give earth the solution to the Astrophage Crisis, because that still needs doing.
Rocky & Adrian have also held a hell of a grudge against Stratt for her betrayal of Grace in the first timeline. As champion grudge holders they are taking the opportunity to be petty and ominous in their interactions with Stratt & the task force.Series

Even when she lost that hope during those long, lonely years, she still refused to move on. When he finally came back, he brought a leaky space blob with him. A dying blob who took all his attention away from her. She never liked feeling jealous but couldn't help it. She wanted her mate back, needed his love to heal her hurts. Adrian fought for him once and won, she could do it again. The space blob turned out to be no competition, it helped her instead. She was not sure how to feel about it.
