Summary
The premise is that Sam and Jack end up in a situation where there's seemingly no way out - or at least back to the SGC. But that doesn't stop them trying, even as they have to live out their lives elsewhere.

Summary
This story was inspired by a prompt from tictoc134 💗
The narrative builds toward Mulder finally confessing his feelings to Scully, only for her, for reasons of her own, to turn him away.
Unable to reconcile working beside her while processing the emotional fallout, Mulder leaves DC to follow a work-adjacent lead up north. There, he unexpectedly meets someone who helps him gain a sense of clarity.
In his absence, Scully remains in DC, with no word from him for three weeks. She is left sitting with the weight of what she said, fully aware of the hurt she caused, while also dealing with her own sense of loss and the pain of his complete withdrawal.
Note: This is tagged as Mulder/Other (and then of course, MSR). This is a dynamic I previously thought I would never write, but I’ve learned to never say never. 😅 That said, as with my Scully/Other content, this aspect does not dominate the story, but it serves a specific purpose within the larger arc.
Thank you, tictoc134, for the prompt! I really appreciate your patience, especially since you requested this a while ago. I made a few adjustments, but I believe the core idea is still there. I hope you enjoy it 💗🙏🥰

Mulder and Scully are thrown back in time…12,000 years.
“Although common sense may rule out the possibility of time travel, the laws of quantum physics certainly do not. In case you forgot, Scully, that's from your graduate thesis. You were a lot more open-minded when you were a youngster.” -- Mulder in “Synchrony”

This is my take on the classic X-Files trope "Mulder pushes Scully away because he thinks he is protecting her." Expect angst, danger, violence, and love. Always love.

Summary
After ten years tucked away in a quiet house in the woods, Mulder and Scully’s world begins to quietly fracture. He’s chasing shadows again—shut in, unraveling. She’s left trying to hold their life together, wondering when love became silence. As their connection fades and choices are made, one moment, one mistake, will change everything. A haunting, emotional descent — But even as he spirals into darkness, something in him still reaches for her. The question is—will she reach back?

Summary
He sees all of the very good reasons not to steal Scully’s car and drive to North Carolina that morning—he understands them perfectly and could articulate them if someone asked—but they’re so far away from him that he can’t touch them, much less feel them. He’s looking at them from miles above, like he never came back from orbit at all.

This is a variation on the bed conversation from “Plus One,” set post-"Rush" (with some references to the flashback sequence from "Per Manum"). Scully expresses some anxieties, and Mulder reassures her.
