this is sooo fascinating and such a unique concept that gillstolunks has written so well!!! i've seen fandom speculate about whether or not louis was schizophrenic and if lestat turning him locked him into that state for forever, especially when it comes to the existence of dreamstat. but this is the first fanfic i've ever read that actually explores anything like that as a complete story. and my heart breaks for both of them even as it's mended by how gillstolungs writes their physical intimacy. holding hands while arguing. post-argument cuddles on the couch. laying in each other's laps. lestat putting louis' hair in cornrows. omggggg it's all just so *squishes gillstolungs' cheeks together in an act of cuteness agression* :3

my god this is cute! literally the cutest loustat fic i've read in a while!!! i love the way you write them in their domestic bliss because it highlights that part of their relationship that i love without denying the monstrous parts of them i also love so much. bonus points for louis and lestat getting to be all philosophical about gender identity why still affirming lestat's genuine desire to play around with gender expression. every moment of reading this felt like a dream :3

this fic truly has everything i'm craving right now. louis standing up for lestat against gabriella. lestat taking louis flying, louis having a flashback to the drop, and lestat doing it right this time by actually catching him when he falls. louis getting to share his hurt from what armand did to him, and lestat being outraged on his behalf. loustat gentle sex. louis using the cloud gift. loustat giggly sex. my gawd i could go on. but i'm saying all that to say that i'm just really happy this fic exists. now i'm gonna bookmark it so i can read it again and again and again -- especially when akasha shows up and really puts my emotions through the ringer.

the kind of dream scenario that only works in a fanfic. claudia finally getting the love, respect, and support from her fathers that she deserved. lestat opening up about his trauma to his unholy family while he still had the chance. louis being there for both of them but also getting to talk his shit about the affair. ughhh chapter 4 literally made my cry. i love this with my whole heart.

oh this hurts so good. you capture the pain of claudia's & louis' slow separation so beautifully. you understand both of these characters and their love & resentment of each other in a way that is so impressive.
this entire paragraph punched me in the chest -->"Was he still Daddy Lou? Perhaps. He could never truly part with that - being a parent wasn’t something that just left you, no matter how much your kid has grown or changed or distanced themselves. But then again, he wasn’t exactly Daddy Lou either. Not in the ways it mattered. And maybe he hadn’t been for a long time, longer than he wanted to think about. He didn’t know if Claudia missed what they had once. What they had been to each other. He liked to think so, but was too afraid to ask, suspicion crawling somewhere deep inside his belly."

i've been searching high & low for this fanfic for months and i didn't even realize it!!! this was honestly one of the best portrayals of claudstat/lesclaudia that i've ever read. it's so genuine to the characters while still making the au parts of it still feel natural. this was the potential of their relationship we haven't gotten in the show. ughhh this was so well-written and really heartwarming to read :3

Whatever carefully blank expression Lestat is trying on disappears like a slap. “Armand made a fledgling. Why would he do that?” Lestat asks.
“Oh, you know,” Louis says, watching the three dots of a new text pop up. “He knew Daniel was… important to me.”
He means to say it with rueful annoyance, as if to say, “so he ruined him.” But as Daniel’s text comes in—the most important question I should have asked you in that fucking interview: where do you buy coke in Dubai?—Louis’s voice trails off, his words maybe lacking some of the bite.

colormeparanoid? more like color me a certified loustat expert. there's so much for me to fawn over in this: the tender yearning, louis finally opening up and getting the tlc he so desperately needs, holding louis accountable for how he's hurt lestat without demonizing him or downplaying his own pain, lestat being such a loving partner who also gets his needs met, the loudan snark, and just the absolutely incredible way colormeparanoid manages to capture their voices so well. but i really reallyreally appreciate them shining a light on the aftermath of louis' trauma from his relationship with armand. so many fics put a lot of emphasis on how lestat has hurt him without acknowledging how armand has hurt him as well. they even went so far as to acknowledge the challenges louis might experience with his new vampy bff daniel pursuing his own relationship with the gremlin.
all that to say: this is incredible and i absolutely love it!!!!
