Summary
The thing is, when you’re Blackbeard you’ve got kind of a reputation to uphold. When you captain a ship, when you lead a crew, when people look up to you, tell stories, build a legend – parts of that legend are always more accurate than others.
And maybe you just let it slide, some of the things people say. Some of the things they assume. Maybe you swagger around and wear black leather and are a handsy bastard and let the stories tell themselves.
Maybe you don't want to talk about it.

Summary
Finally, at 42, pop star Edward Teach is about to get his fairytale ending. He’s got the perfect guy—handsome, kind, patient, and most importantly: crazy about Ed. When his boyfriend proposes, it should be an easy yes, yes, a million times yes! There’s just one problem. Ed’s kinda sorta already married, and he hasn’t spoken to the guy in seventeen years.

Summary
“Ed— What are you doing?” Stede demands, bewildered, a new sort of heat flashing through him at the sight of him tugging his pants down. “Wh—”
“You said we could go swimming,” Ed reminds him. “On vacation.”
He kicks them off, leaving him in his stockings and silk underthings from the waist down, moving to tear his shirt apart next. It comes up and off over his head in an intoxicating sweep of leather, only a minor amount of wriggling required for him to work his way out.
Stede’s only able to— stare, for a beat, before Ed kicks at his shin. “Take your clothes off, love, ‘cause I’m throwing you in with or without them.”
Love, he says, and Stede’s fingers clench up into white-knuckled fists before he rushes to do as Ed’s instructed him to do, half-intoxicated with desire, half-terrified Ed will ruin his clothes with the saltwater.

Summary
“Hold on,” Stede tells him.
“I’m fine,” Ed insists, just like he’s been insisting all this time.
“You don’t have to be,” Stede reminds him in a whisper. “Not with me. Not when you aren’t.” He gives Ed another quick squeeze before his other hand is bringing the bottle up, carefully flushing out the wound with alcohol.
Ed furrows his brow, but it’s really not that bad. The cut is closed enough that the alcohol doesn’t sting terribly.
That doesn’t stop Stede from saying, “You can squeeze my hand as hard as it hurts, don’t you worry about breaking me. I’m made of tough stuff, too,” and making Ed’s heart throb inside his ribs. “Oh, you poor thing. Dealing with this all by yourself. I wish you would’ve told me.”
for ofmd whumptober, day fifteen: makeshift bandages, suppressed suffering, and "i'm fine."

Summary
The last sight Ed has before everything gets dark again is the night sky above their heads. Through the thickening smoke, and the licking flames, he catches a brief glimpse of sparkling stars set in black velvet.
A second later, Stede’s shouting something Ed can’t process, and he’s being bodily shoved forward, and then he’s crashing into unconsciousness once more.
When Ed wakes up again, he’s alone.
