After the coyote’s lawsuit, there were major changes in the desert. One of them was the relationship between Wile and the Road Runner. During the morning and throughout the afternoon, they would spend their time chasing each other; at night, when the night sky appeared, Wile and the Road Runner would meet among the desert mountain ranges, where they would spend their time gazing at the stars together.
The other change was the Road Runner’s protection, as thousands of ACME trucks had been coming in and out of the desert over the past few days. While the Coyote slept, the Road Runner enjoyed tipping them over; but why were they passing through there? “Then you wouldn’t mind,” Atsumu said, his voice a soft rasp, “if I held yer hand, right?”
Kiyoomi stared at Atsumu wide-eyed and open-mouthed. When Kiyoomi’s objection never came, Atsumu tentatively pressed his fingertips into the soft skin of Kiyoomi’s palm.
Kiyoomi’s hand trembled, but he did not pull away. Atsumu slowly threaded their fingers together until their hands were entirely intertwined, flush and warm. Atsumu’s eyes drifted to their joined hands and then back to Kiyoomi’s face. His eyes did not glimmer with mischief. They burned.
After watching his parents’ and siblings’ marriages all end in divorce, Kiyoomi is convinced any relationship of his is doomed to fail. All his life he’s successfully resisted the urge to act on his feelings, and he plans to keep it that way.
Until Atsumu holds his hand on a whim, and everything falls apart.

Miya Atsumu hated his job. Ever since a major injury benched him from ever playing volleyball again, he had to find a job with zero qualifications. This ended up being an assistant to a multimillionaire CEO, Sakusa Kiyoomi. After he was hired on the spot, he should have realized all of the red flags that surrounded the position. But, he was just happy to be working. Two years later, he regretted ever applying. But, he'd rather be unhappy and employed then forever job hunting. So, he swallowed his pride and played the little errand boy for the devil himself; his boss. The very boss that had the prettiest face he's ever seen, the very boss who's hands would fit perfectly around his body, and the very boss who was the most callous man he's ever met.
So, after a night out, multiple drinks later, and still upset about the events that played out at work that morning, Atsumu decided that Sakusa Kiyoomi needed a piece of his mind (even if he wouldn't remember it in the morning). Atsumu believes in love at first sight, because his Ma says it's real. After all, she's still in love with their Dad even though he up and left before either of them could string three words together. So yeah, love at first sight might be real, and it might be everlasting, but it also sucks and Atsumu wants nothing to do with it.
The ball curls right into the corner of the court, spinning up into the crowd and Atsumu gawps as Itachiyama’s spiker lands neatly on his feet and turns to confer with his setter.
"Who is that?” Atsumu blurts.
Aran follows his eyes, sounds bored when he utters the two greatest words Atsumu has ever heard in his short life.
“Sakusa Kiyoomi.”
Gently, Aran smacks Atsumu on the back of his head, breaking him out of his stupor. “Are you warming up or are you drooling?”
Both—Atsumu is excellent at multitasking.Alternatively: When it comes to Kiyoomi, Atsumu loves him and loves him and loves him and never stops. Even when he tries, even when it’s the smart thing for him to do.
